The Aston SPIRIT is a high-performance, switchable pattern, microphone utilizing a 1” gold evaporated capsule. A switch on the mic body selects from Omni, Cardioid or Figure-of-Eight polar patterns. It is versatile enough to use with most instruments and excels on acoustic guitar and vocals. Its hand- selected capsule is teamed with high-end transformer balanced circuitry using only the best components. The Spirit is designed to deliver a beautifully open sound with sparkling harmonics. This highly accurate microphone gives a stunningly natural and transparent recording, capturing all the detail in the high range but without adding the harshness that some condenser microphones seem to.

I think the amount of positive feedback these mics are receiving should tell you something about how amazing they sound. I just simply want to say that if you purchase these mics, do yourself a huge favor and buy a 6" gooseneck! I use my Spirits for drum overheads and apart from them sounding incredible, adding a little gooseneck makes this a perfect microphone. The internal shock absorption is actually really impressive! I bought this a few months ago and I must say I'm digging this mic quite a bit for vocal work. It's bright without being harsh - it almost has a ribbon-like quality to the top end that is very pleasing. It works better with a separate pop filter, although the built-in design helps somewhat. The HPF is a bit too high for use with male vocals so I usually leave that off. Having a multi-pattern mic that sounds great for under $400 is a pretty amazing proposition. To make a significant upgrade to my home studio mic would probably cost thousands of dollars. This unit may well be a best-in-price-class piece. ... show more

The sound comes in and out every few second. It is unusable. And Aston customer service does not respond when you contact them! They are not honoring the warranty. Do not purchase Aston products!

I had pops, modulation and a white noise issue with this microphone. It sounded okay but I don't want a troublesome microphone for my production. Sent back and bought anther microphone from Amazon.
