  • Full Featured Mobo
I bought this based off youtuber ETA Prime's ITX Build using the red Goodisory A01 computer case. Unfortunately for me, the case was unavailable when I went to put this PC together, but with some adjustments, the build went without a hitch. The mini ITX form factor was a very attractive idea. I wanted something for emulation, and for my steam games in my living room (Via Launch Box/Big Box). The motherboard had the most recent bios when I went to boot it up with the AMD 3200G CPU, so luckily, no loaner chip/bios update was needed and everything booted up just fine. The case I went with is actually a bit shorter than the Goodisory A01, and required a low profile CPU fan, which adds to the cost of the build (Plus I bought two 40mm fans to push air on the side of the case). I recommend that you overclock the AMD 3200G asap, as it will get a bit better performance for games like Street Fighter 5, and the newer games out there. This board gave me no problems when overclocking. The included software disc is pretty much garbage, you're better off just installing Windows 10 from a thumb drive, and just updating the GPU drivers via the AMD website. Love this lil board, it's a bit costly, but that's the price you pay for the form factor, packed full of features. As for overall performance, it's very surprising for an APU, I run 1080p out of the box, and get decent frame rates with everything I've thrown at it, usually with medium to high settings. Most emulation works very well. Mostly only issues when running certain games for PS2 emulation. I know this may not be good enough for the hard core audience, but overall I'm very happy with it. Running everything through Big Box is pretty sweet as well. The entire build was about 500 dollars, you can go cheaper with the A01 case, as you can fit the stock CPU cooler, and you don't need to purchase a low profile one. • Excellent board
I don't know what the negative reviews are all about, but this board is about as good as it gets for the size and price. Mine came ready for Gen 3 Ryzen with no updates required. It currently is sitting in a Corsair mid tower case, overclocking a Ryzen 5 1600x at 3.8 ghz, running 16gb of Ballistix RGB 3200 mghz RAM at 1.4v, and an overclocked Rx 570 to the point that any more and there would be combustion and it has been doing this for almost a year with absolutely zero issues. The BIOS is very simple. There's almost no way you could mess it up. I really don't know what the bad reviews are about. This, for me, is a great board. ... show more

  • required some troubleshooting
This motherboard had issues working with my ryzen 5600g. Specifically, during boot, the HDMI port outputs at a resolution which is incompatible with the 1080p display i use. In order to enter the BIOS and adjust all of the settings to maximize the 5600g potential, I had to use an older graphics card from another machine. The board can boot into windows just fine, but I was unable to solve this issue without a video card. I have another computer that runs a ryzen 5 2400g, (also an ASrock motherboard) and it has the same issue, however, that one has a VGA port, which I use to access the bios. This motherboard functions great other than that issue. All of my RAM boosts to 3600mhz, i was able to give the ryzen 5 5600g 4 gb of VRAM through the bios. It allows overclocking, and handles it well on this chip. It did require an updated bios in order to work with the 5600g. I have a spare 3400g i use to update boards like this. If I was to buy another ITX board, I might get the gigabyte AORUS board. The main feature that this board lacks in my opinion is a BIOS flash through USB option. This would speed up updating these boards to ryzen 5000 series CPUs. (this is the 3rd motherboard I have needed to update.) You really cant beat the price for this board to build a small form factor PC, especially if you have a few parts lying around. ... show more

  • Good value; even came with BIOS version 4.60 right out of the box
This board is a good value for anyone who is running a mid-range build. It covers all the essentials, and also comes with great on-board audio, with a full set of audio I/O. Its VRM is relatively weak, but this shouldn't be a problem unless you are running the high-end CPUs. I bought this board on November 5, 2021, and it came with BIOS 4.60 already installed. This was a surprise because version 4.60 came out only a few months ago. So it seems that various earlier complaints about receiving boards with outdated BIOS might no longer be a concern. Interestingly, the sticker on the BIOS chip on the motherboard had version 3.70 originally printed, but this print was covered by a marker, suggesting that the BIOS was factory-updated at some point. ... show more

  • Should have listened to negative reviews
When I first got the board, I had yet for the case and PSU to arrive, so I could not test it right away. However, I was worried when I opened the box and found two capacitors already bent while still in the anti-static bag, and it looked like the bag itself was scuffed from shuffling in the box or something, as the bottom of it had drag marks from the metal on the bottom of the board. I decided to hope for the best and see if it would work once I assembled everything. Sadly today, after 4 hours of installing it, testing it, taking it back out, testing it without anything but bare essentials in, attempting to reset CMOS, etc., it refused to boot to POST. The BIOS would never boot up and no matter what I tried, the mobo was stuck in an infinite boot loop. I even tried booting it off the case, if it might have just been shorting the board somehow, but no luck there either. As other reviews have said, ASRock's quality control seems to leave a lot to be desired. While I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt that I simply got a bad board, which happens all the time with motherboards, multiple reviews seem to indicate that this is a problem with this board, or potentially ASRock in general. ... show more
