    • First upgrade in a decade - what a difference
After a decade my modem and router were starting to have problems connecting to the internet. I wasn’t having any issues streaming movies, video chatting, or data mining so I figured I didn’t need anything better. Then my internet started dropping out and I would have to do the turn it off and turn it back on procedure almost every week. When I checked the speeds on my old dual band router I was at 25 & 40 Mbps download. With this new router I am at 90 & 230 Mbps download which is a closer match to my Xfinity internet plan of 200Mbps download speed. I’m also excited that two devices are now one device! I have so much more room on my bookcase! Install was okay. If you are using your mobile phone and not in a good service area, I recommend downloading the SURFboard app and your internet provider’s app prior to disconnecting your old modem. For Xfinity my steps were: 1. connect the device to cables/ power 2. give Xfinity the device’s HFC MAC ID (device is restarted remotely by company) 3. give SURFboard app the 2.4GHz name and Wi-Fi password 4. login to SURFboard app’s WiFi management using admin & password then set your own 5. change the names and passwords for the different network frequency bands It was simple outside of the waiting time for everything to load on one bar from my cell phone. The biggest observable difference for me has been the map loading speed on Google maps. It’s not instant but it takes a few seconds to load now vs half a minute like before.     • works for xfinity!
the signal seems fast and consistent. set up was difficult because the app is not very intuitive and getting errors so i had to call customer service. The fix was to delete the 'surboard-central- app, reset the modem by inserting a paperclip into the back of the device, wait for all the lights to turn on and stable, then reinstall the app. POOF it worked. Im just excited for saving $15 bucks on my internet bill. Bill went from $98 to $75. ... show more

it's easy to set up and does what it's supposed to. only gripe is the app for Android is no longer supported for newer phones and so you have to do it on the arris website, but hardly a problem and one less app I don't need on my phone

This is for you if you’re getting the basic internet connection it’s great 👍🏾 if you are getting two gigabytes or one gigabytes it’s not good for you to get because if you get one to two gigabytes it’s not going to perform correctly if you just get the basic Internet it’s perfect for you so just think about it before you decide to get this i’m going to give it to Goodwill because probably there’s some people that can use it there that have basic Internet or if they want to have a starter kit it’ll be good for them to start with this as a basic starter kit for Internet, but it’s a great device for beginners ... show more

I bought this and it took me a bit to finally install it. I did have to call their tech support and they were quick to assist and resolve my issue. (which was wifi was not working).

    • Works just as good as Spectrum's
I realized I was paying $10 for the modem each month, plus $4.99 for WIFI signal (Even though I was already paying for the modem, they charge you for the WIFI signal in the modem?) So I went ahead and bought this bad boy. Plugged it in, called Spectrum, and now my bill will be $15 lower each month. Essentially this modem pays for itself in a few months. (I bought Used, Like new). The speed is exactly the same as the Spectrum modem, even though their modem was twice the size and weight of this one. ... show more
