Read the sizing chart. I have 7 and 11 year old boys. I purchased the small and medium. When I first opened them, I thought they looked the same--both wanted Red. However, once I put them on and fitted them...there is a difference. The Medium is definitely too big on my 7 year old. The easiest way for me to tell the equipment apart is by reading the tag. We bought these protective gear for our 3 year old that is very adventurous and tend to fall a lot while on her bike. We truly only needed the knees protection but ended using also the elbow ones. The are light and very easy to put on. What I have not thought about was that when biking it is not as confortable as skating as the knees are folded and the protection is too tight. My daughter is 9. She is neither super skinny nor on the chunky side, but pretty average for her age. The elbows and knees fit ok but the straps to hold them on are waaaay too small. She got the strap through the hole but then couldn't get it back to attach without causing herself pain. I just bought some roller skates to pass time during quarantine before I go to college in the fall. Being the cheapskate (see what I did there??) I am I decided to not pay more for the adult protective gear and opted for these. They fit well and it's durable. For reference I'm 5'4 and 120lb. Love the color of this protective gear, since my son got the red blade runner to match with it. He just a beginner and for sure that he fell so many times. He did not complain for any uncomfortable. It protect him so many time, knee, elbow and wrist. Also I love the bag that come with so I can easily tight it with his blade in one piece to carry with.
