  • Works great for low wattage cpu
Bought this for a 65 watt cpu, and it kept it cool through a benchmark, and stayed relatively quiet too. Good quality and easy to install. However for 90 watt + I would not recommend.

  • ARCTIC Freezer 7 X - The Key to an Easy Install
If you look at the mounting bracket closely, there is a screw holding the cooler and the bracket together. A lot of people are making the mistake of trying to pressure force this cooler onto the CPU like you normally would with a stock cooler and causing themselves a lot of stress. Instead, you have to loosen the screw as much as possible without letting the bracket disconnect from the screw. Once you do this on both sides, the bracket easily slides onto the CPU mount and you just have to tighten the screws. That's it. As for the performance of the 7X, I chose this model over the A13 because it's quieter. I don't know how much more quiet but it's not by a small amount. I saw videos on YT and reviewers are saying that the A13 has a higher RPM range and therefore is definitely louder at full speed. I posted a screenshot of the CPU temp under normal loads with several web browser tabs open and I'm getting excellent temps under 60c on the 3700x (which is 65W TDP) at just 500RPMs. When I launch a AAA game, the temps will increase to about 64-67c. This is with a Balanced fan profile. Overall I'm super happy with the 7X for the performance, acoustics, and even aesthetics at a super affordable price. I highly recommend this model over the A13. ... show more

  • Must down load instructions
Used on a file server AMD AM3+ replacing a chirping fan in the case, if installed on board before board is installed it would be easier. Not a big fan of no instructions must do to net for instructions a simple little sheet saying Intel use the mount AMD doesnt need mount would be great. not a big fan of the screw down mount system when you loosen the mounts to install they tend to twist and are harder to get clipped. as far as price its not so bad but for a 4 pipe cooler with thermal compound preinstalled Fan does its job and is quiet. ... show more

  • Dropped 10°C compared to stock cooler!
Bought this for my new headless plex server that runs 24/7 (hence to 'CO' version). I couldn't use my previous Arctic Freezer 13 because it wouldn't fit in my case (Fractal Design Node 304), so I was looking for a compact cpu cooler that would leave room for cables. With the stock cooler that came with my i5-11400, I had idling temps around 56°C and up to +70°C when under a heavy load, nearly 80°C when turbo. This cooler brought down my idling temps to 45°C and ~60°C under a heavy load, 65°C when it turbos. It's also much quieter since the fan can run slower than the stock cooler. The main con was that isn't not the easiest to install. Package comes with zero instructions, but I was able to figure it out. The mounting ring is pretty wide, so you may have some space issues on mini-itx boards with M.2 heatsinks. For my specific mobo (ASRock H570M-ITX/ac) the M.2 heatsink needed to be removed before installing this cooler. Luckily, the heatsink could be replaced after installing, but there was less than 1mm clearance. So I imagine other mini-itx boards may have issues. ... show more

  • Will not work on MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi DDR4 motherboard with LGA 1700 socket
MSI PRO Z690-A WiFi DDR4 Top Rail CPU Power System heatsink will not allow installation, even if you take the heatsink off of the motherboard, and install the cooler first, the heatsink cannot be put back on the motherboard with the cooler in place.

  • Works well but check you have space for it.
The stock cooler supplied by Intel for their Core I5-11400 is totally inadequate. Running machine learning apps where the processor can be at 100% for long periods of time was causing the CPU temp to hover around 90C! Not good. Adding this bad boy reduced the CPU temp by at least 20C - massive improvement. However to remove heat more effectively it needs to be large, and this is big. It just fit on my Asus Z590 motherboard, double check you have space surrounding the CPU socket on yours. ... show more

  • Don't use with MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk
The mounting hardware is too wide for the MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk. I was able to get the Arctic Freezer 7xCO to function by tilting it about 30 degrees to the front from straight up. This gave just enough room between the 12+1+1 Duet Rail Power System and the Main Memory. NOTE: I cannot now install additional memory in the remaining two RAM slots, because the cooler intrudes into their space. This MSI MAG Z490 Tomahawk motherboard needs to be added to the list of incompatible motherboards. Note also that once I got the cooler fastened down, it seems to work very well, being controlled by the motherboard CPU power header. The better cooling solution would have been to point the exhaust to the back of the case, but there wasn't enough room around the CPU. ... show more
