The interior of the cabinet is constructed with bright white ABS liner with a full stainless steel floor and coved corners for easy cleaning. The AST48R features two self-closing doors that remain open at 90 degrees for quick and simple loading of products. The foamed-in-place recessed door handles save additional space. Magnetic door gaskets are removable and replaceable without tools. When you purchase brand new equipment for your restaurant, do you expect the equipment you purchased to work only for two week?? Well, it happened to the Artic Air AST48R we purchased. It stopped working two weeks after it arrived. So, OK things happens, no worries, the unit has warranty; the seller assured me. Moreover, since the company sells commercial restaurant equipment, they must be familiar with our time sensitive requirements and industry warranty service standard right? No, again. I contacted Artic Air’s listed warranty number. The person took down my information and told me a tech has been scheduled to come to our store next day the latest. Sound good right? Except, normally we should get a call from the actual service company confirming the appointment, but no body called. Next day rolls around, half day have gone by, nobody called or showed. So, I called the warranty number again. Now, the person claimed it look like the tech won’t be able to come out until next Monday? Alarmed, I asked to speak to the manager. I discovered, actually, I’m not even talking to the Artic Air department. It was some sort of outsource answering service. The person gave me another number and told me to ask for Nick or Steve. Apparently they are the ones hired to take warrantee calls. I got a hold of Nick. He was rude and uncooperative. When I told him our system is down only after 2 week, not only did he show no concern, his attitude was “well, you bought it, it’s your problem. I’m not a tech dispatcher, why are you calling me?” Later, he tries to blame us for mis-use and claimed the Warranty is void without even understand what’s going on or wait for his tech person to take a look. After that, 4 or 5 people called me multiple times, both from the sellers and the manufacturer support. All try to convince me that I have no warranty; no one even attempt to solve the problem or at least tries to get their two week new unit working first. When I insisted they have their authorized tech person come out look at it first, someone called me said next Monday for sure, then a day later someone else called me said it look like the tech is so overbooked that probably next Monday more like next Tuesday. At one time, the seller even tried to insinuate that he doesn’t know what wrong with our city as the reason they couldn’t get a tech out timely. Our city? We are in the middle of Silicon Valley – mecca of high tech not in Timbuktu. Does this sound like a company that actually has anyone that can service their equipment and honor their warranty to you? Meanwhile, I never received a call, not even one from this phantom service company/tech person they keep referring to. Sure enough next Tuesday came and went. No one came. Tired of waiting, I called a local refrigerator technician. Guess what, he came out the same day. He quickly zoom in to the issue. He discovered, contrary to all the B.S. Nick and the other manufacturer support person tried to claim, the unit stopped cooling due to a defective part called a “current relay” that was stuck in the closed position and caused overloading the compressor. There is NOTHING we could have done that could have caused that. “IT’S A MANUFACTURE DEFECT,” said our repair guy. Our guy got it working in no time. Yet, we were delayed for over 1 week due to Artic Air’s incompetency and dishonest behavior, not to mentioned bad attitude and unprofessionalism. It was abundantly clear that there were no service company scheduled from day 1. It’s also worth noting, the whole time that our unit is not working, the system never showed any error codes as claimed by their manual either. All indicated the system was working, except it actually was not cooling. So, would I recommend Artic Air? Absolutely not. With our experience, I truly believe Artic Air has no business providing commercial equipment. Moreover, I believe they have committed serious warranty fraud. Would I recommend this seller? Not if he continue selling this poor quality product knowing that the company actually has no creditable backing for honoring warranty and taking care of their customers as demonstrated in our case. ... show more

    • Prep Cooler works Great!
Great customer service in locating our prep cooler after it was left unnoticed at courier location. Also, courier was prompt & courteous in getting delivered asap. Everyone involved in getting us our prep cooler was fantastic, Amazon as well. Also, the prep cooler works great!! Highly recommend!!

This piece of equipment is manufactured in China as are many other items used in commercial kitchens today. I was reluctant to purchase this prep box initially but then said what the heck, give it a try. So far it has maintained temperature, runs quietly and also has a digital temperature display. It came packed with 1/8 size plastic containers which do not fit very well between the metal supports. If you use metal pans they fit better than the plastic ones. Using the plastic containers we could not get the last two to fit into the support bars. This is an issue that the manufacturer should deal with. If the support bars were made just slightly narrower the problem would be solved. The unit has a very good appearance and comes with casters (You must install) that make moving the unit around very easy. I give it four stars because of the container and support bars issue. ... show more
