  • GREAT DEAL
VERY PRECISE CONTROL

  • Good overall quality remote amp control
This control has a metal body and plastic foot pedal/ rocker. The cord is detachable, which is unusual, yet convenient for storage and transport. The potentiometer is 100K value. 5 contacts, 2 for the microswitch and 3 for the pot. The manual has a incorrect wiring diagram, the pins # 5 and 3, as read ON the cord plug face are connected to the microswitch inside, this is printed incorrectly in the manual as are the numbers printed corresponding to the different pins in the illustration. It's not a lot to figure out, but point is, it's wrong, which is important if you are needing to adapt it to something not covered by one of the three, ( yes three), included cords. Two of the cords have plugs at machine end, that are identical physically, and most likely intended for Arccaptain machines, the other cord uses a generic 5 pin plug at machine end, as found on many Chinese welders, it may or may not be connected correctly for one's intended use but again, only 5 wires, 2 for the microswitch, and 3 for the potentiometer, not rocket science to move the connections around to suit the situation at hand, just a bit of judicious soldering. I did not open up the control to check the innards, so can not speak as to which type mechanism they use, or the type of pot, rotary or slider. The unit has good heft, so it ought to stay put on the floor and I would guess that control precision and sensitivity will come in on a "average" value. There is a bit of "dead" time before the microswitch kicks on and I do not know how that translates into pot movement, so the current might come on higher than what it could be. There should be ways to adjust that starting amperage, depending on how motivated you are. Priced on par with other foot controls. ... show more

  • Arc captain Tig 5 pin foot pedal
I specifically ordered this for my old go to military machine whose foot pedal fit the dust over the winter I had been procrastinating about replacing it because of the excessive price tag of a new one I began looking and found that arc captain has what appears to be an incredibly well made compact quality foot pedal my Miller had five pin and this had five pin I figured as long as there's five wires I could make it fit and I certainly did I find that the art captains functionality is the same if not better than the one that came originally with my military machine and save me approximately $400 in the process talk about bang for your buck it's pretty simple to use once you know the way out of the pinch schematic it's just plug and play I was really anticipating having difficulties with having different components on my welder but it seems to be quite happy with the all captain tick pedal it weighs a substantial amount it does not move around on the floor at all it's in a comfortable location and it just stays there anybody who uses a foot pedal knows how hard it is to chase a pedal around under the table while you're trying to lay down a bead it's next to impossible this foot pedal stays where you put it and works every time I am so pleased that I found this and did not go for the original equipment I highly recommend arcCaptain tig foot pedal for anyone who finds that it would work with their units it is a high quality well made good value for your money foot pedal ... show more

  • Big and heavy, stays put, works great!
I got the ARCCAPTAIN 5-pin TIG welding foot pedal to see if it could improve my TIG welding over just using the on-off switch that comes on the torch. It works great with my AIXZ Global TIG welder, but my SSIMDER requires a 2 pin + 3 pin connector. This pedal comes with a very thorough manual with wiring diagrams for its 5 pin connector, but I'm not sure what wiring is needed for the 2+3 style, so I haven't tried to build an adapter yet. This pedal comes with two long extension cables in addition to the main connection cable, so you can put it ridiculously far from the welder (assuming your torch tube is long enough, too.) Since I don't need these extra cables I'll probably turn one into an adapter as soon as I figure out the proper wiring. So yeah, the pedal is a lot easier to control than the button on the torch. Just make sure you get the right connectors for your welder. ... show more

  • Good pedal but did not work on my welder
I have a different brand of welder. It is not an Arccaptain. I was hoping this pedal would work for my welder but it will have to have the cable rewired to make it work. The pedal is a nice heavy duty item. It is large and the action is smooth. I would like the cord to be about 5 feet longer. The cable ends are the same as my welder and fit well. I will get a friend to reconfigure the cable for me. It came with three cables. Two of them fit my machine . I like the kit and look forward to getting it in use. The price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this to someone who has an Arccaptain welder that it fits. ... show more

  • Very nice foot control for an excellent price!
Hooking this foot control up was very easy, it came with multiple cables with different end combinations to fit your machine. As long as it's a 5 pin aviation plug your covered. The foot control itself seemed very smooth and honestly I could not tell a difference between it and my more expensive Miller foot control I've had for years. It definitely feels solid and well-built, it's amazing that you can purchase it for the price they're selling it because in my opinion the quality is at the same level as foot controls costing $400 or more. Do not hesitate on buying this you will not be disappointed. ... show more
