I had only ever used plastic shower caps. I stopped using them because all it did was make my head sweat so my hair was not dry and my style was not preserved. I have long, straight, type 1A hair. I spend an hour or so curling my hair twice a week so I need my curls to last multiple days. I have spent a lot of time figuring out products and routines that support my goal. I love this cap! The inner layer is microfiber. The plastic layer is in the middle and the outer layer is satin. I don't stand with my covered head under the water. If I did the satin layer would be soaked and the cap would be heavy and laying flat on my head. This cap forms a big bubble around my hair. I use this to keep the steam and overspray from getting to my hair. My head still sweats a bit because I take really hot showers, but the inner "towel" layer absorbs the steam from my head so my hair stays dry. I sleep with my hair in a twisted bun to support maintaining the curl. I put this cap on with my hair still in the bun when I shower. I often redo the bun so it is tight to support holding my curls. When I get out I dry off and then take the cap off immediately but leave the bun. My scalp area will be a little damp from sweat, but not much. I use my hair dryer on its coolest setting to be sure my hair is dry before I take it out of the bun, and keep the bun in while I do my makeup. My curls last 3 to 4 days! This is possible due to several factors, but this cap is one of the keys. All 3 layers serve the collective purpose from the inside out and the outside in. 1 and 2 layer caps didn't allow me to shower and preserve my style. Get this! ... show more

It stays on and keeps my hair dry. I have a small head and it fits (stretches so would probably fit even better on a normal sized head). The only thing is it makes my head really hot, but that’s sort of a given.

This shower cap disappointed me. It's not extra large. I have to struggle to fit all my locs in it and my locs are small and shoulder length. Not only that, but it isn't waterproof. It actually absorbs water. I don't bathe long enough to see if it would completely soak but as you can see from the pictures, water soaks into the fabric. It seems to be triple layered because although the outside is wet, the inside stays dry. My hair never gets wet and I'm grateful for that. This wasn't an entirely bad purchase but it's not for me. If you have hair shorter than shoulder length and you take quick showers or baths then I would definitely recommend. Although it is a struggle, my hair does fit and my hair doesn't get wet so it was still a good purchase. ... show more
