  • Work nice
This works nice with Home Assistant Snoff Zigbee Dongle. The only thing its missing is the back of the sensor be magnet so I can install this without the two side it tape. Other then that it work better then other sensor I purchased. I hope the battery last longer than other sensors.

  • Works great, acceptable price
I purchased two. These work great and are an acceptable price. They are not fully functional in Alexa routines. I used these to tell me when my washer and dryer completed their cycle. I didn’t purchase the feature on the machines when I purchased them 14 years ago.

  • Not a Vibration Sensor (UPDATED)
Disclosure that I do not use an Aqara Hub, but have this connected to Home Assistant via a ConBee II ZigBee Gateway. (Original Post - Updated Below) As an On/Off binary sensor, yes, these work. But as a vibration sensor, that’s a bit of a stretch. As the device sends signals back to any connected ZigBee gateway, it is the function of the sensor to report action/inaction, and thus my experience is not due to missing some feature only provided by an Aqara hub. I was hoping for a true vibration sensor, but found that it didn’t pick up on vibrations so much as reporting jarring events. For instance, when attached to the frame my truck’s engine is mounted on, turning the internal combustion engine on did not cause a vibration alert. When attached to the internal mechanics of an automatic expresso machine that grinds and packs beans – no vibration. Same with a washer, a dryer, and the floor of my old school metal mailbox. In fact, it didn’t detect vibration when attached to the front of a running machine. I got a trigger when attached to the seat of a rowing machine, and if attached to the back under belt frame of said rowing machine. Even then, what I got back was sporadic at best. For instance, in a 30 minute constant rowing machine session, it toggled between “clear” and “vibration” almost every minute. In other areas where it was a jarring event, like opening a door/cabinet, or other single big movement object – it worked fine. But nothing more subtle, and not a true vibration happening – not a vibration happening sensor. This might possibly be a good replacement for an open/close sensor when you don’t have room to place both components, but it is not a vibration sensor. UPDATE: The sensitivity level can be adjusted programmatically using either Home Assistant's Developer Tools\Services utility, or the deCONZ\Phoscon API. The device has a 21 step sensitivity range, and when adjusted to more sensitive, it picks things up as expected. Still not a 5 as you have to go through a few hoops that most users won't want to try. ... show more

  • Not for Washer/Dryer detection. Not sensitive enough, unable to modify setting via Home Assistant
Aqara's stuff is usually pretty decent quality but this one is a big whiff. It connects ok, and detects basic motion ok but it's not sensitive enough. I attempted to change the sensitivity via home assistant using all the tricks but it would not accept writing the setting and only once even read the setting. Next up I am going to try a heavy duty zwave 800 smart plug to try via power monitoring. If this is your use-case, I'd move on. ... show more

  • If only I chose the right project
So the product itself is cool. It’s small, easy to add to home assistant, registers vibration fairly quickly, and doesn’t bring the ere of my wife. Actually size wise it’s very similar to the aqara temperature sensor. And if like me you break the back of it, you’ll find that the temperature sensor back fits :) But make sure the idea you have for this is better than mine. I wanted to use it under a step of the stair case to switch on a led light strip. Super cool right? Well super fun to setup right? Well it would have been awesome except the sensor wasn’t sensitive enough to pick up me stepping on the step. The steps were wood, the sensor was underneath, and I’m around 200lbs. And no luck. I feel that these might be more suitable for things that rattle or have a bit more shake in them. Stop thinking of weird automation for your bed! ... show more

  • Not sensitive or well supported enough.
You get next to no info about what is going on or the thresholds for when you will trigger an action. You can't find out which way the sensor tilted, merely that it did at some change in angle. The vibration doesn't recognize a washing machine or dryer bouncing around, I could only get the vibration to trigger when shaking it in my hand. The best use for these would be for security to ensure things that don't move stay put. These aren't the best for smart home automation though with their limited uses. The adhesive doesn't come off easily in one piece and is a bit too strong for how light the unit is, or at least it could release easier I found out the hard way when needing to move them to the doors of the machines to register a tilt after learning the more than noticeable vibration/movement of the machines won't trigger anything. Do a test install with some other kind of tape before actually adhering it on as what you have in mind may not pan out as expected. ... show more

  • Using this as a mailbox sensor outside, and it's been great so far
I've been trying different HomeKit devices for the last few years and I finally decided to try the Aqara system. Along with the smart hub I also purchased the Aqara vibration sensor. Adding the vibration sensor into my HomeKit ecosystem literally took less than 30 seconds between when I opened the box to when I had the sensor integrated into the Home app. The vibration sensor is slim and small, and I installed mine underneath my mailbox so that it will alert me when the postman delivers new mail. The vibration sensor is the farthest from my Aqara hub inside the house, but during testing the response time was fairly quick (I have the sensor sensitivity set at 'medium'). So far so good, although not specifically designed to use in an outdoor application, the vibration sensor seems to be handling the weather just fine. Right now I'm very happy with the Aqara devices - super quick setup, full compatibility with HomeKit, and exactly what I was looking for! ... show more
