Features

  • AI Facial, Pet and Gesture Recognition: Ready to experience a better smart home? Imagine your camera can recognize your face and welcome you when you come home or recognize strangers and send out notifications to warn you. You can also trigger pre-set actions with five different gestures, which is a new and unique feature that is not available in similar products of other brands.
  • 2K 1296p Resolution & 360 Viewing Angle: The Camera Hub G3 incorporates a high-resolution 2304 x 1296 pixel sensor that results in better image quality with more details.* In HomeKit Secure Video mode, the camera records in Full HD 1080p due to the current limitations of HomeKit technology. 110 wide-angle lens coupled with the Pan and Tilt motors provides up to 340 rotation angle, supports automatic cruising, and face and pet recognition. No more Blind Areas in your home.
  • Local Control Center: As a Zigbee 3.0 hub, it can connect up to 128 Aqara Zigbee child-devices and allow for seamless integration across Aqaras sensors and home automation devices such as home guard, data reporting and smart control. Alexa, HomeKit, Google Assistant, IFTTT are supported. (Note: The IR function is not currently supported by HomeKit. Instead, you can try using Aqara Home or Google Home, as well as triggering the Aqara Home scenes via Siri Shortcuts or other voice assistants.)
  • Local Infrared Control & 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi: The Camera Hub G3 has a built-in IR controller that can make your existing infrared-compatible devices smart and support local automations. All the IR automations are local and will run even if there is no internet connection. Moreover, no more worrying about network type compatibility: the Camera Hub G3 supports 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi, the most popular Wi-Fi frequencies, and uses them to connect your Aqara child devices to the network.

EDIT: Lol I immediately purchased a 3rd camera after I wrote the previous review…..annnd of course the third one DID NOT work right out of the box. I think this has something to do with Apple and not the camera itself but I’m not quite certain. Basically it dropped out while pairing, and HomeKit decided it wasn’t going to let me add it after resetting it. It kept saying the device was already added. After talking with Apple it was determined that it could potentially be a faulty unit and not truly resetting to factory settings, so I returned. Other 2 cams are still working great off my HomePod Mini***This could also have something to do with the 3rd camera since I’m just running a mini…will update once I get 3rd and have time to set up. TLDR; If you have an AppleTV/Homepod/Ipad already (required to work with HomeKit without anything else) and you’re looking for a HomeKit camera without 3rd party apps; do yourself a favor and just click buy now. This simply works. This is the third camera I’ve landed on and it is absolutely the best by far and large. I initially started with eufy, because it was, well, cheap. I ended up having to download a third party app, then jump through what felt like countless additional hoops, and ultimately ended returning because it was the opposite of seamless, and knowing I would need additional cameras, it was not a process I wanted to repeat. After the eufy experience, I decided I’d give Blink a try and skip Homekit altogether because the third party app experience was so terrible with eufy, I figured why not give our guys and gals at amazon a shot. Also, because it was cheap. This experience was notably better at first. App was easy enough. First camera connected quickly. Second and third camera however we’re a different story…I started running into an error were the app was swearing up and down that I was entering my wi-fi password incorrectly. However, It was showing me the password I entered so I know that it was accurate. Long story short, 15 power cycles and camera resets later, ended up not being able to hook up the last camera, returned, which brings us to this cute little camera here. Now, the reason I mention these previous experiences is because it is critical in understanding exactly why this camera is worth every single penny. Aqara’s arrived, I unboxed, plugged in, hit the + icon in Homekit, scanned QR code, and it worked. That simple. Nothing else required. It simply worked. The entire process took me maybe 5 minutes for both cameras. In comparison, the previous 2 experiences mentioned were both 30+ minutes with negative results. The camera quality is great. Very sturdy and well built. Do yourself a favor and stop looking and buy this. It’s worth it, and it even comes with adorable little ears on the camera…common now, what more could you want? ... show more

  • Great Addition to Smart Lock, but Some Minor Issues
I purchased the camera hub to complement my smart lock, aiming for a DIY alarm system with integrated automations. The alarm speaker, however, is not loud enough, which is my main issue. I’ve set up an automation to play a chime when doors open using the paired door sensor, but it only works for a day or two before needing a reboot. Other automations seem to work fine, including privacy mode settings when we’re home. I love the animal tracking feature for monitoring our dogs and the human tracking for added security. The cruise feature, which moves the camera to designated areas, only lasts 5 hours, which isn’t ideal for extended absences. Additionally, the gesture shortcuts can’t be used simultaneously with other tracking features, which is a bit disappointing. Despite these drawbacks, it’s a great buy and I would recommend it. ... show more

  • So close to perfect.
This is truly the jack of all trades but master of none. It is a great indoor camera, great device hub, has excellent multi-platform support...I could go on and on with everything it can do...... but many things are just shy of perfection. Not all hub-connected sensors are visible in Alexa platform. It is actually difficult to know exactly what will and will not function between all the platforms. Not all AI functions can run simultaneously. The camera has a great range of motion, but choppy to control. Not easy to finely position its view. The cameras uses both 2.4 & 5 ghz bands which is rare, but I have lost full connectivity requiring a power cycling of the device to regain control. Not easy to do if you are 5000 miles away trying to monitor your home. The reason I still give it 4 stars is that it can do many things and do them well. And many of the shortcomings can be addressed with software updates. The Aqara group of devices is also very affordable making home automation less of a burden on the wallet. I am hopeful that with future software updates, their entire system will reach its full potential. ... show more

  • Aqara cams are my new indoor security cameras
What a pleasant surprise on how good Aqara security cameras are in Apple HomeKit. I originally bought the G3 Hub and accessories for my daughter’s new home. It was well rated and affordable. She constantly raves about how good it is. So when I was having connectivity issues with my current indoor cameras, I decided to try it. My daughter was right, the video come up quickly with a great images. The Aqara G3 hub was easy to install and setup. It works great in HomeKit and virtually no delay in transmission. There is only one complaint, you can not pan or tilt through the HomeKit app. You must use the Aqara app to do any movement. Now I am going to replace my other indoor cameras and my doorbell with Aqara products. I hope the doorbell is just as good as the G3 Hub/Cat Cam. Hey Aqara, if you’re reading this review, please give us another option for decorating the G3 Hub like Mickey Mouse, dog or Bunny ears. I’m not a cat person. Plus a great outdoor cameras would also be nice. ... show more

  • High resolution video. Great features.
This is a quality device. HomeKit compatibility is great. Image quality is nice. I had some issues binding to HomeKit but restarting my WiFi network seemed to solve the issue. My G2H wasn't compatible with SD cards over 32gb so I have not bothered to try a higher capacity card on this product (G3). The SD functionality seems to work great, but it is worth noting that if you insert an SD card it will disable iCloud video storage which removes your ability to scrub through video history from the Home/HomeKit app. Using HomeKit still works for live video stream, you just can't access history when SD card is in use without using the Aqara app. I like the Aqara app features so this is an ok compromise for me. ... show more
