The last one I purchased was a plastic spring clip-on one. It kept sliding around and was not very sturdy because I was putting 2 headphones on it. This unit is made of metal and screws-on. It is very sturdy and compact. Highly recommend.

My desk is glass with silver rails for support. I chose this product and color to match that. It does blend in well and screws together fairly well. The latch is not as smooth as I was hoping for, however, it does open and close and it holds my headphones well. It comes with extra screws and a hex key. I bought this (and also the ‘screw-to-wall’ version of it) to support a heavy and favorite pair of ‘orthodynamic’ headphones from Audeze, and was surprised by this holder’s small size. However, it feels heavy and solid, is well-finished and looks well made. The threaded bolt that one turns to achieve a tight fit to the edge of a table, desk or shelf wobbles just slightly inside its fixing. This is my one criticism. Nevertheless, it achieves a solid attachment to whatever one fixes it to and so is fit for purpose. I tested its grip - the headphones in question are no longer made and I don’t want to lose them to a drop! - and found I couldn’t budge this fitting from the shelf I attached it to. Also well done is the subtly curved rubber pad that contacts the headphones. It looks good, its small size letting it get out of the way visually. I highly recommend this product. ... show more

You can attach this easily to small surfaces. It can be attached sideways. The holder is padded which is nice - no noise, and easier on the headband. Sturdy construction.
