  • Small, low power unit but performs as designed
Style: 6kW
It was a tough call giving this product 5 stars but it performs exactly as designed. However, the design might not meet many customer expectations. The problem is physics. This is a small water heater that can only deliver 6 kW of power to the water. 6 kW is only 341 BTUs/minute. If you do the math, you find that this water heater is only capable of raising the water temperature 40° at a flow rate of 1 gpm. That assumes 100% efficiency (not likely). If the inlet water is 50 degrees Fahrenheit at a flow rate of 1 gpm the absolute best the heater can do is raise the temperature of the water to 90 degrees. That’s pretty chilly water. Note the heat transfer is flow rate dependent. And higher flow rates mean colder water (not good for showers which average 2.1 gpm). For my application this works perfectly. I installed the heater under my kitchen sink which is located a good distance from my 40 gallon tank hot water heater. The inlet water is about 65 degrees at the start of the delivery. With a flow rate of 1.2 gpm I get about 95 degree water at the faucet. The unit takes 15 seconds to heat up. I initially run about ½ gpm which gives me around 110° lukewarm water (after the 15 second heat up cycle) until water from my tank hot water heater reaches the tankless heater. Then Katie bar the door. The faucet water temperature is whatever is programmed into the tankless heater. I have it set for 131° which is scalding hot. If I’m using the faucet intermittently, say every 15 minutes, the water stays pretty warm. The water downstream from the tankless heater comes out of the faucet very hot then cools a bit then heats back up as the water from the 40 gallon tank water heater reaches the tankless heater. Thus my 5 stars. The unit seems well built and its display provides real time water temperature. It is compact and easy to install. All fittings are o-rings minimizing potential leaks. This unit does exactly what the physics allow it to do. ... show more

  • No hot water for 3 weeks. This product has been a disaster.
Style: 27kW
This product has never worked properly. Initially, there was no hot water at all......just error messages. After calling the company, they had me troubleshoot the problem which I was happy to do. Some of this troubleshooting was quite dangerous because the hot water heater is 27,000 watts and they needed me to open up the unit. In any event, the trouble shooting effort didn't fix the problem so the company said they would send out a part to hopefully fix the problem. After a full week of waiting for the part (and NO HOT WATER), the company contacted me and instructed me to try something else. My wife and I were so upset that (1) they still didn't send the part and (2) we were now forced to endure even more time with no hot water since their new idea did NOT fix the problem . I begged them to send out a new hot water heater that works properly but they blamed Amazon and said Amazon was the problem because of Amazon's return policy. This seems like nonsense to me and also like a company that does not stand behind their products. Since I am a builder, I was able to get this hot water to periodically heat water but it often shuts down shuts down and only provides cold water. I would absolutely not recommend this product as a result of their faulty customer service and troublesome product. Here's the final straw, they charged me $10 in order to ship the part that I still have not received. What a miserable experience. ... show more

  • Pleasantly surprised
Style: 27kW
The media could not be loaded. I was a little skeptical about this and all ELECTRIC tankless water heaters but this thing is awesome! Works great in my 3 floor town house, w/ 4 people no problem. Would definitely recommend! Pros: -easy to install (the actual unit, the wiring is a pain, but I'm a licensed electrician) -ease of use. turns on and just works -compact unit. Now I have more room for activities! Cons: -the wiring terminals are small. Meaning the biggest wire you can fit is #8 AWG (which is what is required for the 27kw) I had #6 wire I wanted to use but unfortunately I couldn't. Final thoughts: Buy it! You won't regret it! Will update later for a change in BGE. ... show more
