    • Just barely burbled! No better than the $10-$20 solar pumps!
I bought 4 or 5 solar powered water pumps for my backyard fountain. Here in Las Vegas where we have PLENTY of bright sun, they ALL performed poorly! The cheaper ones at least put out a steady stream, and bird-bath vertical spray about 6" to maybe 10" at most, when I held a 100 watt flood-light about 6 inches from the solar panels. I tried all the attachments. None were any better than the others. But under full bright sunlight, I'll admit about 5 pm, aiming the solar panels right at the sun, they all just burbled. start-stop. spit a couple of spoonfuls of water about 1 inch high! Big disappointment! So I bought this one. $ 98.99, supposed to push up 430 gallons per hour. That's 7.2 gallons per minute. Hah! NO WAY! You wouldn't get one gallon in 5 to 10 minutes if you tried with the one I bought. I even held the solar panel for this one up and aimed it directly at the sun! Still... just blub.... blub.... blub. No spray. When I put the black plastic tube (about 6") on it, the water didn't even make it up to the top of the tube. To be fair, I'm going to try again tomorrow... At 12 noon. We'll see if there is any improvement. But I can't be going outside 3 times a day to re-aim the solar panel to morning, noon, and afternoon sunlight! I'll update this review if it warrants a revision. I sure hope it does. ... show more
