I originally pressed trust these most super excited to use this with my class. However, after only a few short weeks, the condensation in the container got bad and our thing was overtaken by fruit flies, and our ants all died. The instructions tell you to put water in the sand however I am not sure this was a great idea. I purchased this for my classroom as my students are really hoping to watch ants this summer. It was a little smaller than I thought however, it’s perfect size to be on my desk or in a smaller area with no distraction. Sometimes smaller is better. My son can’t wait to see the ants in action and enjoyed decorating his farm with the stickers. Although I don’t recommend ordering the ants from the company. Shipping took awhile and the ants died almost immediately after being placed into the farm. Just order through Amazon instead.

We ordered this for our daughter as she is very interested in all types of creatures. We were a bit disappointed you have to get the ants seperately, but they eventually arrived. I wish there was a way to use ants from the yard. The farm was smaller than expected, but fine for viewing. Our daughter liked watching the progress of the tunnels while it lasted, but the ants eventually died out. ... show more

I can highly recommend that everyone have an ant farm. Simple to set up and watch the ants as they work. Many ants die after a few days but you do get to see them in action and watch for progress. It is small and lightweight so portable and comes with interesting facts about ant life.

The ant set is easy to put together. Once you order your ants it is fun to watch them make tunnels. I am having a hard time with my sand going up to the top of the terrarium to the point it is hard to open to add food and water. The sliding top is hard to open and can stick at times. I am glad that this doesn't open easy so your ants won't get out. This came with stickers, a great information booklet to help you know lots of fun facts on ants, and a card helping you to know how to order ants. Overall a fun ant farm colony. ... show more
