I have been buying Mission Figs at Trader Joe's for years and as they often do, for some reason they stopped carrying them. I tried the Turkish and Golden figs but they taste like shoe leather to me. These are a little more expensive but they were fresh and delicious so it was worth it. I will buy again. UPDATE 11/16/23 - I have ordered these a couple of times since my first order and have been satisfied until this latest order. The figs were covered in some kind of white funk and they had such a strong overwhelming chemical / alcohol smell like they were maybe fermenting or overloaded with preservatives that had the opposite effect. Discovered dried mission figs recently and have been looking for a cost effective manner to enjoy them. I came across these figs in great quantities as well as pricing. So I decided to try them out. They arrived in a resealable plastic bag and I just couldn't wait to open them up. They are about the size of prunes, not sure why I was expecting bigger, and they were so plump and juicy I had to have a few. They are naturally sweet and not coated in anything to make them last longer. Definitely store these babies in the fridge. It was like eating the middle of a fig newton without the cake part! I make fig jam a lot, and these were perfect! Reconstitute them with a little apple juice and cook away! Great on cheeses, cookies, icecream, smoothies. They are really fantastic. Will be coming back to these when my 3lb bag runs low. Considering the whole family is snacking on them, it could be sooner than I expect. ... show more

I dislike like wrting reviews especially to vender that have be upfront in the past. I normally buy white figs from Turkey with no added perservatives, ONLY Sun Dryed. I took special interest in the Dark Mission Figs here to read the ingredients. This item is sold as 100% Natural. NOT TRUE. It is 100% NOT NATURAL after being soaked in a known unhealthy preservative. Worse, the sellers DOES NOT ALLOW FOR ITEM TO BE RETURNED. I wonder why? Is potassium sorbate toxic to DNA? ... Potassium sorbate is found to be toxic to human DNA in peripheral blood lymphocytes, and hence negatively affects immunity. I grow my own figs, but never have enough, so I tried these. Maybe I'm too picky, but they seem slightly uneven in ripeness, and I suspect they are heavily irrigated, which affects the complexity of the flavor. Wowie! These are so fresh and delicious that if you love Mission figs as much as I do I'm sure you'll find this product as wonderful as we do. What a great bargain they are too. They will arrive in two bags if you order them in 5 lb bags as I now do. My first order was a 1 lb and they went so fast I had to turn around and reorder the larger offering. So far I'm on my second order of 5 lbs like an addict and will keep them in stock! I have been offered a 10% discount for my first order of these, but my review is based on my honest experience with them.     • Figs were very good, then I encountered a molded batch

Been buying the 5-pound bags once monthly since the start of 2023 and was quite pleased with the product--five stars. Then the 5-pound bags went out of stock during the summer for several months. I ordered again when they became available in September 2023. My first clue that the new batch was "off" was when the bag arrived bloated, like it had been pumped full of air. That bloating was actually the figs producing gasses from whatever caused them to spoil. When I opened the bag, the odor was noxious, and the figs had spots of whitish/brown mold. I don't want to completely write off this product because of one bad batch--it happens. But the experience was very off-putting, so I will dock the review two stars and will probably wait awhile and monitor the most recent reviews from other customers to see if the vendor is having trouble putting fresh product back in stock before buying again. Also, contrary to some reviews on here about spoiled figs, you CAN get a refund on a food product even though it is marked "not eligible for return." You just have to initiate contact through the customer service chat bot to do so. I was promptly given my money back. ... show more
