Purchased two of these bicycles for my twin sons, who are approximately 5' in height. They had outgrown their previous bicycles, so we were looking for an upgrade. After looking for key features, namely front suspension, 21-speed gears, and disc brakes, the costs of other bikes from several vendors easily exceeded $350. As a result, this had us looking at potentially moving to an e-bike, due to the range and ease of riding. We found these bikes here on Amazon and purchased two for them. Both bikes were shipped to us in a single shipment, but we only received a single bike from FedEx. After reaching out to the Zaplue support team they resolved the issue by confirming that there was a second item to be delivered by FedEx and we received it a few days later. In the end a mistake by FedEx, not Zaplue. Putting together the first bike took approximately 45min, but the instructions were quite easy to follow. Most of the bike is already assembled and only requires installation of the front brakes, front wheel, pedals, seat, and minor items. The tools provided are adequate to get the job done without any additional tools necessary, but some slightly better tools from home may be easier particularly the hex wrenches. The second bike after knowing the process took less than 30min to assemble. Riding the bikes is actually very enjoyable. The bikes have two options either using the pedal assist, which allows for multiple levels of assist from 1-5. Alternatively using a throttle located on the right handlebar, somewhat similar to a motorcycle, which gives full-electric power but no pedal assistance otherwise. Great for going up steep hills, particularly if you are fully stopped and need to get going. With the pedal assist you get a quick "boost" of power shortly after starting to pedal to get you up to speed. As a result, you can often stay in 21st gear without ever changing it, since getting going is actually quite easy. Battery life is surprisingly good, lastly 20+ miles before needing a charge when using the assist of "1" or throttle instead. Charging takes about 3-4 hours to fully charge. The chargers themselves do get quite hot during the charging, so recommend that they sit on something well ventilated and not covered up. Overall the bike quality is very good considering the cost. My wife (5' 6") enjoyed riding the bikes so much that we purchased one for her as well. She can raise the seat to a comfortable height, and the frame is a good size for her as well. I would recommend the bike for someone upwards of 5' 10" or so, likely not much higher. I am taller (6' 1") and the seat at full height doesn't allow me to fully stretch my legs, and the frame is somewhat smaller than I would prefer. However, power is good, even with my weight (~215lbs). We have had the bikes for about 3 months now, and going strong. We have taken the bikes on dozens of rides. We now have well over 200 miles on the bikes (they have a built-in odometer that tells you how far you have ridden). I would definitely recommend these to anyone in the market for an e-bike, or even considering a slightly higher-end mountain bike. ... show more

    • “Decent” Bike

I purchased about 2 weeks ago and I have close to 100 miles so far. I ride the bile daily to work and back, about 5 miles each way. Splitting this review in sections of Comfort, Battery life, Ease of use, and other. Comfort: Im 6’2, 200 lbs. The bike is a great size and i dont find myself hunching over or stretching my legs. It comes with an adjustable seat so it can fit many sizes. Im not even using the maximum height. I will say the seat that comes with the bike is extremely uncomfortable. Its very narrow and I ended up just buying a new seat at walmart. Speed: Accurate speeds. It accelerates pretty fast and on a flat road i've maxed out at 23 mph, but usually cruising at 19-20 mph. I do frequent an uphill roughly a 40 degree incline for maybe a quarter mile and I end up going anywhere from 10-16mph depending on how much juice is left. Battery Life: Battery life of this bike is sorta misleading. As i stated before, i ride 10-20 miles a day to and from work. Each ride is roughly 10-15 minutes which would put me at just above an hour total riding time. While i'm at work, the bike will stay outdoors, not charging for 6-8 hours. However some days I barely have enough charge to make it home. Now this could be due to the fact that I ride top speed the entire time but that is still a large jump from the advertised 4-5 hours. Ease of use: For actually operating the bike you may choose to pedal manually, electric pedal assist, or throttle. At times i feel my speed is limited with manual or that its unreasonably difficult compared to a regular bike. Pedal assist also just seems as a different way to turn on the motor rather than just the throttle. What I mean is i dont think your actually assisting the motor so I dont believe it would provide any benefit over just twisting the throttle. Sometimes the gears and chains click and shake, but its not caused me to fall or anything and never have they gotten stuck. Other: I will say this is a good bike for the price compared to other bikes. I would give it 3 stars because of the seat and battery life but it does me justice because of my short commutes. The instruction manual is VERY confusing and I did have to look up a video on how to assemble but all in all it was not much trouble. YOU WILL NEED A SEPARATE WRENCH. A few tools for assembly are given but a wrench to tighten the seat would definitely help. ... show more

Was a little hesitant/skeptical of ordering an E bike on Amazon, but this is a quality product! First E bike... 48V is the way to go, more power/storage capacity. The assembly took less than an hour, and it came virtually assembled, except for handlebars, seat, front wheel, and kickstand. Rode it for 10 miles yesterday at a NY State Park that is very hilly, and this worked like a champ, and did not even put a dent in the battery! Just need to work your gears like a normal bike, then let Pedal Assist kick in on the hills.... Really great at helping you maintain your cadence/pace! Also, didn't want to pay 1,000's of dollars in an E bike, not having ridden one before. Great buy, great quality! Gears are Shimano, and they shift really smooth! ... show more
