Description

The AmScope M150C-PS25 monocular compound microscope has interchangeable 10x widefield and 25x widefield eyepieces, a forward-facing nosepiece with three DIN achromatic objectives, LED illumination, a 0.65 NA single-lens condenser, coaxial coarse and fine focus, and a plain stage. The forward-facing revolving nosepiece has 4x, 10x, and 40x DIN achromatic full-glass objectives that provide high-resolution color-corrected images. The monocular viewing head holds WF10x or WF25x eyepiece on a fixed 45-degree vertical inclination to reduce eye and neck strain and has 360-degree rotation capability to provide a more comprehensive view and enable sharing. A compound microscope is used for inspection and dissection of specimens when two-dimensional images are desired. The microscope has lower (diascopic) Brightfield illumination that transmits light up through the specimen for enhanced visibility of translucent and transparent objects. Brightfield (BF) illumination allows the specimen to absorb light, resulting in a dark image on a light background. LED illumination provides bright, cool light for working with temperature- sensitive or live specimens. The 0.65 NA single-lens condenser and disc diaphragm control the amount of light illuminating the specimen. The plain stage is 3-1/2 x 3-1/2 inches and has an opening for light transmission and stage clips to secure the slide or specimen in place while viewing. A stage stop prevents the stage or specimen from coming into contact with the objectives. Coaxial coarse and fine focus knobs are nested to speed focusing for left-and right-handed viewers. All mechanical components are constructed of metal for precision and durability, and the solid-metal frame has a stain- resistant enamel finish. The microscope is powered by a 110VAC adapter (included). The microscope comes with a set of 25 prepared slides of a variety of plants, animals, and minerals. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. • Happy 5th grade
My kids have really enjoyed having this microscope for our classroom. Any time that they get extra work time they are at it looking at the different slides that came with it.

  • missing parts
I ordered three of these and only received one set of prepared slides. sadly i will have to return two of the three, as they are to be christmas gifts. the microscope is of good quality, about what you would see in a high school or college science lab. magnification is good and clear. the unit is sturdy and easy to use. i do not see any way for this to hook up to the computer screen as shown in some advertisements. overall, good quality for the money and i would give this 5 stars if the other two slide kits were included. ... show more

  • Excellent Microscope. It far exceeded my expectations.
I bought this as a retirement "toy" (it's really not a toy) for myself since I've always wanted a microscope. The slides with the assorted specimens are fun to view with different magnifications. The microscope is sturdy and does not look cheap. My secondary reason for purchasing this scope is to turn on young relatives to it to spark their interest in "magnifying the tiny worlds." ... show more

  • Great for my kids first microscope
I am a microbiology teacher and work with microscopes quite a bit. This was great for my kids. I have to help them with it because they are only 4 and 6 but they love looking through it and seeing the specimens. The only thing I would change is having the knobs that move the slide around the stage. This is manual on this microscope, but for the price it is not a big deal. It was a good buy. ... show more

  • Complemented with Book Light
I complemented with “Visson Stepless Dimming Book Light,12 LED Reading Lights for Books in Bed,3 Color Temperature,Rechargeable Clip-on Light with Magnetic Function” to see opaque objects. I just reworked the book light to make it fit on the lenses and it works perfect.

  • I am shocked at how good this thing is!
I've been wanting a microscope for years. I've been eying 2500X versions at $600–1000 and up. I'm so glad I got this instead. It's plenty of magnification for practical purposes. It has a solid, professional build quality. It's a stunning deal for under $94. The first duty I put it through was to examine diamond pendants at minimum magnification. You can see every inclusion, chip, flaw, etc with it. As a result, I'm taking back a necklace I just bought at a retail outlet, which turned out to be a piece of junk for far too much money. One word of warning: The listing shows a computer attachment. It does not come with one. Nor is that part listed in the package contents on this page. Including the picture is a bit misleading, but I suppose it does inform you that it's a cool option you can add later. Regardless, I'm still giving this microscope 5 stars. It really is an unbeatable deal for the price! ... show more

  • Great Starter Scope!
My kids and I have really enjoyed this microscope. It was a birthday gift for my 8 year old but I think I have enjoyed it at least as much as he has. I looked at the microscopes marketed for kids and they were all garbage so I decided to get him something that was less of a toy and more of a tool. It's sturdy enough to be abused by an 8 year old and the prepared slides are really fun. I recommend getting slide kits so you can create your own as well. I have actually been able to get decent pictures by cramming my iPhone camera in to the eyepiece. We have looked at cat whiskers, blood (it was mine, extracted via pinprick; don't worry!), leaves, you name it. It's a great learning tool. ... show more
