If you're using one or two tubes for a whole face, like I did, it's definitely necessary to mix this with some lotion and to use a makeup brush or blender - this doesn't go on clean otherwise. You should definitely put generous amounts of makeup primer on your face before applying the lotion and face paint amalgam. The white was not thick enought for a mime costume. It never really dried and kept pilling on my skin. It took so many layers and was just not even whatsoever.
