    • Great step bit for the money
I needed to bore a hole in my winch bumper for a brake light adapter. It called for a 1-1/4" hole. A hole saw was expensive for just one hole so this step bit I hoped was my answer and it was. It bored the hole in that steel bumper with no problem.

    • Get what you pay for.
Upon first use it was so dull that it was unusable. I was drilling 20 guage mild steel at low rpm on my drill press. I sharpend the bit and was able to drill the second hole to complete the job. Not good for steel. It would probably be ok for soft metals and plastics.

    • Did the job but basically one-time use on metal fuel tank
I needed to cut a 1 3/8” hole in my Mustang fuel tank to add a vent valve. This step bit was inexpensive $5.99 compared to my local hardware store option of $65. It’s a cheap Chinese tool and while it took 20 minutes to make the cut it did the job. I’m sure it’s a good tool for non-wood applications and I would have given it 5 stars. Since it’s a throwaway in my application I only rated it 3 starts as it is really not designed for cutting steel. I saved some money and did not expect anything more so I’m happy. ... show more

I was skeptical about ordering it. This tool is very sturdy and exactly what I needed it for, to drill a hole on a plastic water barrel.
