I ordered the dark chocolate color because the color of my kitchen cabinets is “Espresso”. I was hesitant in ordering this because the picture looks black and almost lacquered. I am happy to report that it is a handsome dark brown wooden bread box. The sides and top show off the wood’s grain and the slats for the roll top have slightly different shades of color like wood should. This is one classy looking bread box! This was birthday gift from my husband - he didn’t understand why I wanted this bread box so much, but bought it for me anyway. It is SO great. Sturdy, beautiful, roomy. I am not sure in what way it would be “sheer” but I gave it 5 stars for “sheerness” just because everything about it is so great.

Very beautiful bread box and holds a lot of bread. I only wish it were black. I ordered ebony, but it looks more like a dark cherry wood. It is such a nice box, I will probably paint it black.
