Let me start of by saying that I think this glassware is elegant, well made, heavy, substantial, won't easily tip, won't easily break, and is about the sturdiest piece of stemware that I now have. One could say that is has many advantages over traditional light stemware. But I would not use these golden glasses to serve wine in. But I would use them to provide an elegant touch to parties and events as stemware for water, soft drinks, sparking water, juice, cocktails, and almost anything else that you can put into a glass other than wine. The shape for wine is wrong for channeling the aroma, and the glass itself is heavy and lacks the curve at the bottom of the glass for handling and sipping. This could be problematic for events where people are standing. Please look at the photos of the Atelier stemware against traditional wine glasses that are both stemmed and non-stemmed for comparison. Look at the last picture. This glassware is superior with respect to the bottom base for storage in wine cabinets that have mounts for stemmed glassware. The bottom base of the Atelier stemware is very wide and that offers stability both on the table and in barware storage racks. I need to be very careful with other stemware because the stemware can hang in such a way that the narrow base sometimes slip through the slots causing the glassware to break. Not for this set however, the wide base on these glasses don't leave any room for slippage and they should stay on the racks without much of a problem or concern. Above my wine bottles I have an automated bartender. These glasses can be great for cocktails and mocktails as well as other beverages. Incidentally, the American Atelier Wine Glasses are made in China. That doesn't bother me, but I had to chuckle at the name after removing the tags from this elegant stemware. ... show more

    • Heavy duty goblets
So these will end up being "deck goblets." They are quite sturdy/heavy and stable for stemmed glassware. I expect they will not break easily - and certainly won't be affected by wind or other elements. That said I would consider them to be economical glassware. All 4 of the ones I received had 3 seams - some of the seams were pronounced and some you could just see a little bit. We will use them and they will likely be around for awhile, but I expect someone would be disappointed to have paid the price listed for them. ... show more

There comes a time when one must let go of the red cups and get some adult glasses. The set of 4 glasses has a vintage-style goblet design with a gold beaded design. I am not a fan of gold, but the gold beads add a touch of class to the glasses. I am a relatively large man, and I need sturdy drinking glasses that are easy to handle. The glasses have a nice weight and will likely last over time. Even though I have not put them in the dishwasher, they are supposed to be dishwasher-safe. Thus far, I am satisfied with the American Atelier Wine Glasses. I recommend them to anyone looking for a set of adult wine glasses. ... show more

I ordered these thinking they looked interesting from the picture. The actual product was very ornate looking and the brassy gold details were just too much for me. I sent them back. That said, the weight and size of the product were as described and if this fits your style and decoration, they may work for you. Perhaps would be good for a medieval dinner theme party?? ... show more

These are the thickest wine glasses I have ever seen. They each weigh over one pound. The glass is probably 1/8" to 1/4" wide. They are very clumsy to handle, too tall and, I am uncomfortable writing this, they are just ugly. Nothing about these glasses was appealing, It was a bad answer to the question, of how to make a different wine glass. Also, each glass has visible seams where it was joined. I wouldn't use to drink from. They are different in their own way. But I have out on display in a non decorative manner but I plan to display in a curio cabinet.

    • Exactly What I Wanted but Not as Nice as Described
I wanted a little more flash in my daily glassware - and these did that for me. They are nice and heavy, seem to be high quality at first, and are actually perfect for everyday use, because they aren't perfect and it would be no great loss if one were broken. I say that because the gold beaded design is painted on; the "beads" are not individually applied, they are spread out around the rim and then paint strings them together. Also I've noticed some flaws in the glassware, bubbles in the middle of the glass, and seams that just seem to speak of a lower quality item. But still I will give them five stars - these are not items for a fancy dinner, but they are nice and very decorative and plenty sufficient for daily use, if you like to use things that have a touch of the "fancy" to them, on an everyday basis. (Like I do!) Overall, keeping the points above in mind, I do recommend, and rate these at four stars. ... show more
