I only use olive oil for cooking, salads and whenever oil is called for. I like that it is in a plastic bottle nd properly sealed when delivered. I used a tablespoon to pan sear fresh Mahi (Tuna) and it was delicious Didn't burn or smoke like some other oils do. Reasonably priced and good quality coming from Italy. I did not detect any peppery taste as some have described. Glad I found on Amazon and will continue to order from in the future I would definitely recommend. Healthiest oil to use. ... show more

I use olive oil in my cooking regularly. Once I switched to this product, I have not used anything else. It has a relatively mild flavor and smooth texture. I tried the Mediterranean blend, and I think that they put in the mix (a lot of) questionable origins oil, the taste was like rust, very metallic. After all it was a "blend" they didn't have to specify from where. I am Italian born, exactly from Liguria, and there they have one of the best evoo in Italy, so tasty and so light. So I tried the Amazon Italian evoo, but I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise it tasted *genuine* a real honest to goodness evoo. It is bitter as soon as you taste it, but my mother who is a super fine evoo connoisseur, assured me that all genuine evoos, when they are especially fresh, taste bitter and this is a sign that they are the real thing. I stay away from the Pompeian brand because that's a blend too e some of the Countries of origin are very questionable, what are the laws in that Country that would enforce a real purity of the actual product. And who tells me that in order to keep the price low, they are using mostly the questionable oils, with just a drop or two of good oils so they can legally say it is a *blend*. No blends for me, I buy only the unique origin, in this case from Italy. I used the Colavita before but now, at $49 a bottle it's out of question. But I had a way to ascertain that this Amazon Italian evoo tastes just the same. ... show more

This is an awesome Extra Virgin Olive Oil... This review is for the Mediterranean Blend Olive Oil. Long story short (I go into more detail later if you are interested), this oil has a light, green (sort of grassy) taste with a bit of nuttiness. I have never tasted an olive oil like it. It's wonderful!!! Ok, now the details: I bought this because of a review I read and because Amazon was having a sale where you got 15% off when you bought 4 participating products. Anyway, usually I buy "light" tasting olive oil because the smell of extra virgin olive once it's in my mouth reminds me of the smell of motor oil and so far I have yet to find one (expensive or cheap brand) that didn't taste this way. This one was different. It has a sort of "green" (grassy) taste that is fresh and light, with a sort of nuttiness that I have never tasted in any olive oil before. It was wonderful!!! I have used this oil in a garlic bread compound butter (to make it more spreadable), I have used this oil to pack sun dried tomatoes and it was awesome then as well. I used it to make the base for broccoli cheese soup (instead of butter) and the soup turned out amazing! All in all this is a really good olive oil and I will be buying it again! ... show more
