I have used various generations of this tablet cover/stand for other Fire HDs I've had over the years. They work very nicely in both horizontal and vertical positions. One problem - which could easily be fixed - is that when placed on a smooth surface - glass, wood, marble - they slip. The edges of the cover are smooth, and cannot grip when the cover is used as a stand. I have to put a towel or potholder or other rough surface underneath. Also, the main hinge tends to wear out and go flabby over time, also causing slippage. This happens because I use my Fire HD every day. I traded in my old Fire HD8 for what I hoped would be a better experience. The updated OS isn't as smooth and I lost my Scrabble game. The speakers aren't as good either but I do like the size better. Like I said, trade-offs. Not sure I would do it again.
