    • Good value but I had to stop
I took these for almost 3 months for my joint pain associated with arthritis. I walk with a cane and after the first 3 weeks my walking started becoming smoother with more range of motion in both legs. Then I found out I have beginning of cirrhosis in my liver due to Hep C that has been dormant for years and recently flamed up and was caught because my liver enzymes showed high during my regular check-up blood panel. I had to stop taking the CLA because it can be a bit hard on the liver. I was losing some weight while taking them, I lost 13 pounds in those 3 months. It may be because I was also having pain in my upper right quad due to my liver though as I was eating less. This is a Good Value for a 4-Month Supply (120 daily servings of 1 soft gel with 1 gram of CLA per serving) of CLA (Conjugated Linoleic Acid). These CLA soft gels each contain 1 gram of 80% CLA, equivalent to other brands that typically have 80% CLA with daily servings of 1 gram of CLA. I am currently taking the same brand of “Amazing Formulas CLA” with a stronger potency (1.5 grams of 95% CLA). I bought this slightly less potent “Amazing Formulas CLA” (1 gram of 80% CLA) because it is a good value for the cost despite not being quite as potent. But I fully expect to obtain very similar health benefits with this slightly less potent CLA. These soft gels are large but still easily swallowed with water or juice. CLA is typically used as a weigh-loss supplement to help with fat loss and also has excellent anti-oxidant properties. I have lost 1 pound over the past 2 weeks using CLA with no other changes to my healthy lifestyle. A gradual weight loss of 1 to 2 lbs per week results in true permanent body/visceral fat loss and not weight loss associated with temporary water loss which often happens with fad diets and their rapid water-related temporary weight loss. ... show more

    • Seems like a high-quality CLA product
With respect to the desired health effects of CLA, it seems to be moderately effective for some people at reducing new body fat accumulation in conjunction with exercise. Alas, the drastic reductions in existing body fat seen in animal models don’t seem to be in the cards for humans. So don’t expect miracles; CLA isn’t among those supplements that make their effects blatantly obvious. Still, I’ve been taking it over the past couple months while spending more time indoors thanks to winter, and I’ve been pleased with it so far. It seems like a well-manufactured and high-quality product, it’s priced competitively compared to other brands, and the suggested maximum daily dosage should be safe even in the long term. As always, use common sense when dosing supplements. Note that the lower dosage version of this product may be more cost-effective per unit weight on a given day. ... show more

    • Outstanding CLA value
I've been taking CLA for several years and confirm that it makes a difference in weight management when combined with an exercise plan. My preferred CLA product is 1300mg and I would typically take one or two pills with lunch and one with dinner. This product has the same potency, but has a slightly lower dose of 1250mg. I've stuck with 1-2 pills at lunch and one at dinner. It results in a similar overall quantity over the course of the day and the same effect (better energy for workouts and the body more efficiently pulling energy from fat rather than muscle mass). Despite being a slightly lower dose, the softgel pills are actually larger than what I was taking before and are similar in size to a different brand I've tried that was 1500mg. The larger size may be a problem for some people, but I have no problem swallowing these. The real benefit on this brand appears to be the cost/value. At a current price under $12 and 120 softgels, these come in below 10 cents per softgel; most other brands are typically 15-20 cents per softgel and some are more than 25 cents. If cost is a significant factor for you, this is likely to be a good option. ... show more

    • Easy to swallow
I've been reading all over the place how taking this supplement is supposed to be good for weight loss. I've also read that it can raise your good and bad cholesterol. I've only been taking these for a couple of weeks. I haven't noticed much fat burning yet ("they" do say to give it a few weeks at least to start seeing the weight loss benefits). I have a checkup next month so I will see about the cholesterol thing. For the size of the supplement, it is easy to swallow. However it does have an oily after taste if you happen to burp for an hour or two after taking. I'll update my review when I get more time and results are clearer. ... show more

I have not lost any weight but it did curb my appetite for a few hours after taking it. With a good diet and exercise, they may help. I only just started taking CLA for the benefits. Some people and health websites suggest it might help with metabolism and support immune health. Since I only just started these, I feel like it is too soon to tell, but I haven't had any bad effects from taking them. They don't have any offputting smells and are not too big to swallow, and I haven't noticed any aftertaste. ... show more
