  • A smooth finish is POSSIBLE
Size: 3 lbs.
This stuff is GREAT! I’m a beginner sculptor working with just 1 side sculpts at a time .The picture I put is how it looked before I sand! I will put a picture with the final smooth product . I use it to cast my sculptures . Yes I am not talking about terrain stuff, I mean actual sculptures where I need a smooth surface! I let it dry for a couple days, 4 days at least . And then I sand it, apply more sculptamold to fill any holes, then let it dry again and sand and apply gesso let that dry and re sand /Top with gesso. Yah it’s more work than just using other stuff to cast in, but It works beautifully !! I didn’t want something super heavy , so this sculptamold works great, it’s cheap, study and it’s naturally white so I can paint it easily. I tried dropping my sculpture a bunch to see if it would crack, (it didn’t and all!) but I think I’ll do a better test with a sculpture that I wouldn’t care if broke or not so that I can fully see how it would hold up. ... show more

  • Great for train set landscapes
Size: 3 lbs.
Easy to work with and creates a great effect. It sets fairly quickly so I mix only 2 cups at a time; 2/1 product/water

  • First time using and I have to say...
Size: 3 lbs.
I love the use and ease of this product. The texture, quality and durability is excellent for the project I used it for and it turned out excellent for a first time beginner like me. I most definitely will be buying it again. Oh, and another thing it doesn't have a smell at all.

  • necessary for dioramas
Size: 3 lbs.
This stuff is a wonderful. I can't imagine a diorama with out it. BEWARE Mix small batches- like, a cup of compound with half cup water. It sets- becomes impossible to work- in less than 5 minutes.

  • Sculptamold
Size: 3 lbs.
This product is working out perfect while I am shaping a hillside and small mountain on my layout. I have bought 7 bags so far as I progress on my layout build!

  • fun molding compound
Size: 3 lbs.
I am a novice at doing scenery for my model train layout and have struggled to find a product that can be used conveniently to mold into shapes that look like rocky terrain. I have played around with plaster of paris and Hydrocal, both of which work nicely for pouring into molds, but kind of ooze all over the place when trying to make rocky terrain. Sculptamold is fantastic stuff! It is much neater to mix with water than the other products and is very easy to apply to the layout with little mess - it stays where you put it and doesn't flow somewhere else. It takes more time than the other products to set up so it is more forgiving in that regard. The terrain that I have made looks much more realistic than I was able to achieve with the other products. It is fun to work with and I will be looking for other new ways to use it for my train layout. ... show more

  • Love this stuff
Size: 3 lbs.
I read about this in a book on model railroad construction, but it took me a while to find. Then I suddenly found it in three places ... so I was not looking hard enough at first. It was worth finding. This stuff binds to styrofoam, which is a miracle by itself and it works like plaster and clay - the best of both. It goes on easily with a tongue depressor or spatula and is easy to work. I immediately bought three more bags to use for a number of projects. It is also a lot less messy than mixing up a batch of hydrocal or plaster, although I still like using those in other situations. It is perfect for small to medium areas that need coverage, and it adhered hydrocal rocks to styrofoam, which is awesome. I really like this product and plan to keep a good supply on hand ... for making war-gaming scenery, mountains, hills, rivers, rough terrain, etc. It is easy to use, can be mixed in small batches and is the least messy of a number of options, not to take anything away from the messier stuff. It is the easiest to make exactly what you want ... when plaster cloth or hydrocal might be overkill. And it works brilliantly with those two if you need to patch an area, attach a rock or build an outcropping onto a larger project you might have started with one or both of the other two. A minor revelation. ... show more
