    • A really rewarding thing to own and use

It's really hard to use Arrowmax's SES screwdriver without smiling. From the moment you open even just the Amazon box that the SES comes in, you know you're in for something different. The packaging stands apart from the dime-a-dozen stuff you've probably seen on other tools you can buy from Amazon. It's a treat to unbox, all the way up to the point you take out the aluminum carrying case. Really, it only gets better from there. When I first took it out of the package, the tray for the bits and the screwdriver slipped out. Of course, I wondered what the heck that was about. Was it some cheap junk that just fell apart immediately upon opening it? No. Later I found out that the case has a push-to-secure mechanism, and this works really well. Let's talk about the look and feel of this product. Whenever you hold any part of this product, it doesn't feel light, cheap, or insubstantial. Whever you look at it, it doesn't look cheap either. In fact, the Arrowmax logo on it is machined to have a sort of iridescent look to it, and I find this really captivating. I've never witnessed a company put so much work into the aesthetics of a screwdriver. Mind you, I haven't even turned this thing on at this point, and I'm almost already sold on the basis of how immediately apparent Arrowmax's craftsmanship is. Now let's talk about how it does what it's meant to. How does it drive screws? I think it does so pretty well. For most things that have never been repaired yet, the screws will be quite tight, and the SES's maximum of 2.0 Newton-meters will not be enough torque to dislodge it. The SES can be used as a manual screwdriver too, so you can twist a bit to dislodge it. Even if you have to put a bit of work in, though, that doesn't make the SES worth any less. It's best to have human precision and clear tactile feedback whenever you're dealing with really tight screws, after all. However, after that, the SES takes care of the remaining arthritis-inducing work. Similarly, it can be a good idea to a start a screw off manually, and complete the work using the SES's motor. The SES's included set of bits was enough for me to replace the screen and battery on an iPhone XRit included the necessary Pentalobe, Phillips and Tri-point (Y) bits. Again, it wasn't uncommon to have to start a screw manually. But this is good! The logic board on an iPhone an a rogue screwdriver in the same room aren't a good combo. I'd rather have to start it manually. The SES contains a number of everyday screwdriver bits (T2-T15H Torx, PH000-PH1 Phillips, H0.9-H2.5 Hex/Allen, SL1.5-SL3.0 Slot/Flathead) but also boasts more niche things like standoff bits, SIM card removers, square/triangular bits, pentalobes, and tri-points. Arrowmax didn't make their SES electric by simply adding two buttons and a motor to their screwdriver. They included a full-blown OLED (really!?) screen with really cool animations that play when you're driving screws! The thing even charges with USB-C! As an Android (and now iPad Pro) user, this makes me happy. I don't feel worried writing a review so soon after recieving this product, as it looks like I'm covered by a 12-month warranty. The warranty is easy to register, and you don't even need to look through the packaging to find some kind of serial number: all you need is an Amazon order number to register on their Afterservice page. Remember not to use your Amazon password to sign up for this warranty, as that's just simply a bad idea. ... show more

    • An Almost-Too-Good Tool (if that's possible)

As a freelance IT person, I've long despaired at the seeming lack of a compact, reliable and *fast* tool for disassembly/reassembly of things like laptops, drive enclosures and peripherals for servicing. I've had compact rateheting tools that worked well for a while, then fell apart, and non-ratcheting sets that were simply too time-consuming when it takes twenty screws of varying sizes and head-types just to get to a laptop's internal drive. Then - finally! - along came compact powered screwdrivers that were tiny enough to get into tight spaces, but with enough torque to loosen even Loctite-ed screws and bolts. But those first models were scary-pricey, so I hoped that in time someone would come out with something just about as capable, but obviously cheaper (and not outright garbage). This one came along, and I took a chance on it: close to a year later, I haven't regretted my choice. It's made equipment teardowns *immensely* faster and easier, and better still, it comes with pretty much all the necessary bits I need, in an extremely compact and cleverly-designed package that's easy to carry and just as easy to deploy. If you do do IT stuff for a living, or if you're just an itinerant gadgeteer-at-heart, I don't think you'd regret having the Arrowmax as a vital part of you go-to kit.     • Nice pencil like electric screwdriver for electronics

The manufacturer sent a replacement for a dead screwdriver. This is a nice compact pencil-like electric screwdriver with a flashlight that lights while using it. I don't see much difference in the torque settings so I just ignore them. Hopefully, this one will last. (original post) This was a gift and after it was initially charged to 100%. After being used a couple of times to have 25% left of battery capacity the next time it was brought out it was dead. Trying to charge it still totally dead and unable to charge. When it worked it worked fine and the flashlight was good. ... show more

I have been buying these electric screwdrivers for about 10 years. This one seems to address all the items on my wish list. Note: I just got this an hour ago so I don't know how it will hold up. 1 The bits hold in the case magnetically, so you don't have to make sure they snap in. 2 There is a magnetizer on the bit storage box on both sides. 3 The bits have printed labels so you can see them easier. 4 It is smaller than others. Easier to fit in a pocket. 5 Display shows more than necessary, but shows battery level and torque settings. Torque is nice if you have sensitive things to work on, but you have manual power as well. (You can just twist for more power) 6 Driver is not round, so it does not roll around, buttons are were you last left them. 7 The 4 lights and not any brighter than others but they stay on a while so you don't have to keep pressing the buttons to see what you are working on. 8 the bits and driver slide into the case and they click into place. You press again and the bits pop out a bit. So they don't side out when you are not looking, there is a window so you can see the driver is in there and not left on the workbench. It may not be as powerful under load as some others, but less likely to strip screws. and you still can twist it. Disclaimer: No disclaimer necessary.
