I think this tablet is perfect for the kiddos. Battery lasts all day! The kids profile is perfectly tailored for them. There are many books, audibles, games, and educational apps! I like that I can add content and block content as I please. the parental controls gives you free range on precisely what to block, when to block. There are educational goals to meet before a child can play on the tablet. You can lock the tablet after so many minutes or hours of screen time! It occasionally lags, but it isnt so bad where my kids ditch it all together. I personally have a kindle fire and kindle ereader, and i love the Amazon ecosystem so my review may be biased. I love this thing. I don’t have to worry about setting up a child profile on my iCloud account if i would have got them ipads. I’d rather the kids play around with the Amazon fire tablets since it doesn’t break the bank should I end up needing to replace it. Speaking of replacement, the child fire tablets come with a 2 year worry free guarantee replacement. It is usually replaced with a refurbished of the same model. Which is perfect. My family has been a user of Amazon Kids Tablets for 7 or 8 years now. The warranty is unparalleled, the included cases are durable and effective, and it's very easy for me to manage the content that my children has access too. The screen is durable and a great size. The touch screen is very responsive (as long as my kids manage to keep it clean) and the speakers sound great too. It's an amazing value for what you get, but the restrictions are getting a bit ridiculous. For kids safety, I completely understand the "walled garden" approach to only allowing app store access to the Amazon App store. In the past, I as the parent, used to be able to "easily" side-load other applications that I wanted my child to have access too but are not available on Amazon's app store (e.g. Smart Light App, Other educational app, ect.). With the latest update, they have tried to remove this ability and made it an absolute struggle to do. I now have to resort to utilizing developer mode and a special computer program to side-load these applications, and half the time it doesn't work. This is not consumer friendly and is a PRIME example on how there is a fine balance between "safety and security" and "free will and usability". My oldest is 9 years old now, and I was hoping that I would be able to utilize your products until they are 13 - 15. However, now I think that I may go a different route when this tablet reaches the end of its life. This is still an amazing product if reliability, warranty, the free year of Amazon free time and if safety and security are your only priorities. We will continue to use this product for our youngest for now, but if you want to be able to allow other apps, to your kid's Free time profile, that are not in Amazon's app store, consider another tablet. To be clear, you can side-load apps on a normal/adult profile relatively easily. It is the lack of being able to side-load apps to the Child profiles that is the issue. ... show more

I got this for my nephew because he will take your phone to play games which what kids doesn't. There's so many games, learning apps, fun apps on it that are available that he can do anything. The first day he got it he was on it alot, next day it still had a decent battery percentage thankfully. It runs so smooth thankfully that there's no lag between games or YouTube videos. So far he carries it everywhere, he's protective of it and havent seen him drop it yet thankfully, but seems pretty durable. I need to get a screen protector because i want to make sure he doesn't scratch it but so far after a few weeks it cleans up nicely. i honestly think it is worth the price when it comes to eveything. ... show more

My toddler uses this all the time. And it is so durable as he has many fits where he throws the tablet. The screen quality is clear, it holds a charge, and if like to set limitations on your child’s devices; it allows you to do that as well
