  • Everyman's Tablet
Digital Storage Capacity: 16 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Black Style: Fire 7
I want to start off by saying that I currently own 3 tablets; a fire HD 10 11th gen, an ipad {8th gen} and this new Fire 7 12th gen. I use a Samsung S22 for my phone, have an Echo device in nearly every room, a gaming computer and a discount laptop. The Fire 7 is a digital life upgrade for anyone and Amazon released it at a price point that makes this a quality tablet that anyone can add to their life. I tested all 3 of the tablets and their "plus" versions, that Amazon is offering this holiday season. I am most impressed with this guy the 2022 Fire 7. I use it more than any of my other devices at this point. It fits perfectly in one hand for me and although it doesn't have the responsiveness of my $1400 phone, it's plenty quick for me and I need/enjoy using a larger screen. The Fire 7 is more than just my go to for accesss to all things Amazon, it's a perfect e-reader, my video calling go to, my online shopping tool, the remote for all my smart home devices and it's the perfect size to carry around the house. I purchased my Fire 7 with lockscreen ads. I don't even notice them and advertising doesn't bother me generally since it's all tailored to my preferences these days. I much rather spend that $15 dollars on a bigger micro sd card. I have a 512gb card installed on mine. I do a fair bit of traveling and to be able to have this portable giant library of books, media and films is going to be priceless. The Google Play Store can be installed on any Fire tablet with very limited technical knowledge. It increases the devices usefulness and enjoyablity having access to all apps. If installing the Play store seems overwhelming to you ask a teenager in your life for help or pay some lonely coffeeshop some programmer $10 bucks to do it for you. I really just wish Google and Amazon would kiss and make up already. These make great gifts for just about anyone in your life. Get it with the ads and use the money saved to throw a 128bg micro sd card in with the gift. The 16/32gb that it comes with are unacceptable. Amazon gets dinged here for that. With the memory being used by the un-deletable Amazon apps and the system, if you purchase the 16gb version, you have under 8gbs of memory. Download one movie and you're out of storage space. Unacceptable! All Fire tablets should come with 64gb of memory standard. Things I wouldn't recommend this for; gaming, as a mini laptop, playing music or as cheap Echo show 8. The Fire 7 is the only Fire tablet that doesn't do "show" mode, which essentially turns your docked tablet into an Echo Show (in theory). You aren't missing out on anything. Echo shows are completely different and amazing machines and the Fire 8 and 10 do a lousy imitation. I just can't say it enough. I get so much use out of this tablet. For $60 it's an unbelievable value. I have a gaming rig and a $1400 phone and I find this tablets speed and responsiveness tolerable. Tolerable enough to make it my go to casual usage device. For everything most people will use a tablet for this does the job wonderfully and at a price that's affordable to most everybody. Bezos has come to give tablets to the people! Do yourself a favor and get the 32gb model. 10/10, five stars. Excellent. The 12th gen Fire 7 is a total win. ... show more

  • Great FOR THE PRICE
Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Denim Style: Fire 7
I was an early Kindle Fire adapter, but I think the last one I bought was in 2017. So this one is definitely a step up from that. I just got tired of the Fire OS - it was too locked up and not as robust as regular Android. Plus, there is one mindless Android game that I love that isn't available in the Amazon App Store, so that's a thing. I like to talk a lot before getting to the actual review. Sorry. Context is important for me. ***Actual review*** I decided to buy a new Fire because I wanted something a little larger than my phone screen (I have a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, which actually has a pretty large screen) to watch movies on when on vacation. Fires tend to be cheaper than most tablets, so I looked there first. This came up with decent specs for an amazing price, so I bought one. Then realized that it wouldn't be out until 6/29. I got it yesterday and set it up. Here are my impressions: Kindle Fire 7 with 32gb storage & no ads. Pros - Perfect size to watch movies on an airplane tray table - Decent screen resolution (my eyesight isn't what it used to be, and this is still better than everything I had growing up) - Made for Amazon environment, so Prime Video, Audible, and Kindle books work great. Mostly. - Most of the apps I use are in the Amazon Appstore - I paid $94 to get this without ads and to get the 32gb size - that's way cheaper than a comparable name brand tablet anywhere else (I'm looking at you Samsung & Apple!) - There's an expandable memory slot - I have a 128gb micro SD card in there (It makes you format the card before you can use it) - USB-C cord!!!!!! I don't know when Fires switched to this, but I'm glad they finally did - Amazing battery life. I downloaded a whole bunch of shows and also reset a couple of times. Then downloaded again. After several hours of aggressive usage, it's still at 66%. Cons - Wow, this is slow. I'm comparing it to my phone, which is technically top of the line as of last November, and this is slow. It's also $1400 less than I paid for my phone, so while it's annoying, it's not enough to knock off a whole star. - Can't fast charge. Not a huge issue because the battery is pretty big & I have to sleep sometime, but still. - Can't download the one game I want from the Play store. Yes, I know that there's a way to do it, but it's annoying that it's not easy out of the box. - Not all the customer service people know enough about this to help when you have issues. (Yeah, technically not the unit's fault, but as someone who was DM'ing with them for 2 hours yesterday and talked with 4 different people, I'm putting this con somewhere!) - Can't save Prime Video content to the SD card. At least you can't download there. That's why I got the card. I'm not sure I can transfer Prime Videos between internal & SD yet. I think this is the same for all Amazon content. - I kept getting "service_error" when I downloaded tv episodes that I had purchased, even when the episodes weren't on another device. According to Customer Service, you can only have them on 2 devices. I only had them on one, and I deleted them off that one, and I still kept getting the error. TL;DR: This is a really, really good tablet, bordering on great FOR. THE. PRICE! The form factor is awesome for travel, and as long as you play in Amazon's sandbox, the experience is mostly good. I did have a lot of problems downloading episodes, which is actually why I bought this in the first place, and I don't like that you can't download Amazon content to the SD card. I'm not sure if there are legal reasons for that, but I don't like it. ... show more

  • Best tablet you’ll find for this price
Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Denim Style: Fire 7
I’ve owned the two previous generations of this tablet, & this 2022 12th generation Fire 7 is a big upgrade from the last two. The older ones were a bit laggy, but not this one. This one is responsive like something in the $100-$125 price range. The screen also seems brighter, & the battery life has definitely improved. The speaker is similar to the 9th generation, but much louder than the 7th gen. Anyone who buys this, definitely go for the 32gb model. Some apps aren’t able to be moved to the sd card. Just use the sd card for your downloads & media. The Amazon App Store has all the essential apps like Facebook, & your streaming apps like Netflix. If you just want a affordable tablet to use around the house, to use steaming apps, play games, & browse the web on, this is the one to get. Just don’t expect to get a iPad for this price, because thats not what this is. This is a budget friendly tablet, that gives you a good value for your money. ... show more

  • It was a gift for my husband
Digital Storage Capacity: 16 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Denim Style: Fire 7
My husband has a disability where he is bed bound and while he has a laptop he uses in the bed, I found this to be a more practical light weight solution for him using getting online with Facebook and so forth. He's absolutely loving it. So far he's done Solitaire and Crosswords on this tablet and he's learning more things. The display looks awesome and very much improved over the previous generation of the Fire 7 tablet. And the best part is that it's a fraction of the cost of one of those tablet devices that has the logo of a fruit on it if you know what I mean. Only issue was the password sign in issue for his account on Amazon but we managed to figure that out and he was up and running. Overall I am impressed with the improvements made to this tablet and how light weight it is. ... show more
