We love this tablet for my 4 year old son and his little brother who is 1 and 1/2 loves it too with his own profile that is specifically designed for his age. Amazon automatically creates age ranges that helps the parent set up what is appropriate for your child to keep them from seeing or buying inappropriate content. The battery life has been sufficient for daily use and car rides/road trips. It is incredibly durable and has sustained many drops from pretty high off the ground. The storage is not great after a while of using but it does have an option to add an SD card I just haven't done that. The speed has been sufficient for a 4 year old to play games and watch videos without frustration. It may be user error but not a lot of content is available without internet access. I highly recommend buying a compatible set of headphones for parent sanity, but the headphones can also be set through the tablet to have a max volume to protect their ears from their own ability to turn the volume up and down. We do also have the screen protectors which have mainly just helped with things like wiping down after unclean toddler hands have touched it. Overall this has been well worth our money and I plan to buy the 1 and 1/2 year old his own or upgrade my 4 year old when the time comes. 10/10 would recommend for parents who are tired of their toddler dominating their phone and this also has the added protection of blocking inappropriate content that our phone may not have. I am not typically the type of person to come back and write a review. Super clear and sharp HD display, quick set up, and quick response. My daughter had the Kindle Fire 8 kids version since she was about 3.5 years old and it worked just fine until she accidentally dropped it in the sink (oops!) Turns out, it doesn't like water much lol. In any case, she was due for an upgrade so upgraded her to the Kindle Fire 10 kids version for older kids and it absolutely does NOT disappoint! I can still set up her kid's profile and connect it to my account so she has only access to age-appropriate content for her 8-year-old developing brain while allowing her to play other online games with her friends (they're all addicted to Roblox) and set screen time limits with the touch of the Amazon Kids app on my phone. Bought this for my 7 year old son for christmas. I am impressed with it, it has a call feature. Where if a parent(s)/family download the amazon alexa app, parents can use the kids dashboard to approve the phone numbers. My child can call mom, dad and both his grandparents. The tablet has to be connected to wifi as it does not have an active number. We have the amazon kids plus subscription free for a year with the purchase of the tablet. And so far that has been great also, you can select to have the tablet connected to your amazon account at purchase also. There was still the set up process but think it went way easier with it already being paired with an account. The case came with thr purchase of the table the space design is so cool my son loved it! It can be used as a handle to carry or a stand to prop the tablet up. Parents have so much control with the parent dash board, with access to what apps are being used an for how long. Request of what the child is wanting to download and needing to approve them. You can also add a screen timer to have it kick your child off at your chosen cut off! This is our 3rd one we have purchased over the last 6-7 years. They usually last about 2 years before they start to go out but I don’t mind because they aren’t as expensive as other tablets. They come with a year of Amazon kids which my daughter loves. It comes with games and videos and you can set up parental controls. Their warranty is fantastic. The second one we had it just died, screen went black randomly and it stopped working. It was a month before the warranty went out, Amazon replaced it very easily. The last thing is the trade in program. You can trade in your Amazon electronics for a credit toward a new device. They will honor it with a gift card before they even receive the device. If you’re trying to choose between an Amazon fire kids tablet and an IPad like I was go for the Amazon kids tablet. I don’t think you will be disappointed. ... show more

Got this 2nd tablet for my 7 year old grandson for Christmas this year. While the fire OS is a good operating system, it comes with some drawbacks, mostly the lack of solid options as far as specific apps go. As I do most of my Amazon tablets, I added the google play store. It would be great if Amazon would add this as an option without having to spend too much time adding the different apk files and going through additional set up. The biggest frustration with a youngster having one of these tablets is that there are FAR too many ways for them to add games that are suspect and end up with so much bloatware and invasive privacy apps that the tablet becomes totally non-functioning, and I have to go in and reset to factory settings and start all over again. I have purchased games for him and with the fire OS, I either have to allow access to the app store because in disabling that access removes all the purchased apps. I added the play store and added an app locker to keep the Amazon apps active, but require my app locker password to open them. Very handy in my situation. I also added VLC to play videos that I have added to his SD card, which is not available with the FireOS. Overall, this is a quality product, that I would recommend as long as you understand its limitations and workarounds. The fact that it is guaranteed with a free replacement should an accident occur is a great selling point. ... show more
