Shelves seem sturdy but the side panels arrived cracked and broken. Replacement order arrived with the same damage. Third attempt arrived damage-free. Assembly took a little over an hour. Very sturdy with shelves that can easily handle the weight of my books.

    • A solid, sturdy bookcase
These are very heavy, solid bookcases. We purchased them to match the Alera desk we had purchased a couple weeks before. A couple of things that impressed me. The back is almost as thick as the shelves. It is actually in two pieces. It isn't one of those thin veneer backs that you attach with small nails. The shelves are substantial and can hold the weight of whatever we've put on them. The peg is a double attaching type that I've never seen before. Hold the shelf securely in place. My only negative is that there are not enough holes to give you a lot of options on where you position the shelves. I recommend this bookcase and think it is a bargain for what you get. ... show more
