  • Efficient and smart system
Color: Espresso Size: Dust, Mold, Odor Style: Air Purifier
I’ve had this air filter for about three years now in my master bedroom and it has done well. Dust collection on flat surfaces, compared to rest of house is drastically down as you can see in the pre filter picture. It is quiet when normal running and kicks up when particulates enter the air from cleaning to cooking. Absolutely would buy again. Filter picture is 10 months in system. Changed when filter status went yellow. ... show more

  • More sleeping, less sneezing
Color: (White) Size: Dust, Mold, Odor Style: Air Purifier
It was summer in Seattle and the blooming things were exploding with delight, unleashing a blanket of pollen on the city and providing job security for the makers of Sudafed. I'd grown weary of sneezing myself to sleep at night and of constantly vacuuming up dust. It was the summer I turned to air purification for my salvation. I bought the Alen 45i on the recommendation of Consumer Reports. After a few initial hours on turbo, it settled into a quiet cycle on auto mode and I haven't had to touch it since. Pretty quickly, my dust level was significantly diminished and I was sleeping better. I found that when I walked downstairs in the morning I would immediately start sneezing, so I ended up purchasing the larger 75i for my living room (probably overkill for my space; it's a gigantic beast). Both units are extremely quiet unless they're on turbo — but they call it turbo for a reason — and they're super-easy to setup and use. They also look nice, and I like that you can turn off the display light on the 45i so it doesn't cast unnecessary light in the bedroom at night. So far so good on the filter, though I haven't had it long enough to say whether it's as long-lasting as claimed. Assuming it continues to perform I think it's worth the investment for cleaner air and better sleep. ... show more

  • Two years later, still very pleased
Color: Oak Size: Dust, Mold, Odor Style: Air Purifier
Worth the cost. My miserable hay-fever symptoms have improved considerably since I got this air purifier. This machine is so very easy to set up and so simple to use -- a pleasure in this day of 200-page instruction manuals for even the most minor of gadgets. With just a few clear, simple instructions, this air purifier is a breeze (no pun intended). I read that it was designed by a NASA engineer, and I believe it -- it seems very sensitive to what's going on in the environment; e.g., when a crew was drilling up the sidewalk a block away from me, the air-quality light on the machine turned red (alert). I have the machine set to "auto," so it ramped itself up, and the light soon turned back to green. The slim design is sleek and attractive. Overall, I would call this machine not only effective, but also elegant. ... show more

  • This is our first air purifier and it seems to be very good
Color: (White) Size: Dust, Mold, Odor Style: Air Purifier
We just received it today and it was easy to put together and I loved the child safety plastic, since I have a small grandson. When it's in low it is very quiet, the higher you put it, the noise is more audible, but nothing scary. As a matter of fact, my grandson sleeps with a sound machine, so I'm thinking of setting on one of the higher levels because I didn't bring his noise machine. If there are any issues, I'll follow up later. As of today, everything looks great. ... show more

  • Decent
Color: White Size: Dust, Mold, Odors + Heavy Smoke Style: Air Purifier
Bought this to help remove the MJ smoke and puppy excrement that my neighbors seem to forget about. Thankfully, I don’t smell it in my room whilst I slumber. If it hits my nose in another room, I’ll drag it out of my room, close the other doors so it focuses on the smaller area and helps some. Either the people moved out, stopped smoking indoors, cleaned up after their animals, or this is working. Not sure for certain, but I’m not complaining. It helps drown out noise, as it also functions as a white noise apparatus, though not advertised as such since many people like quiet. If someone doesn’t, then pop in some earplugs (Recommend Loop Pro +18dB on Amazon) Regardless how much I vacuum, dust, wipe, clean, or wash stuff, it doesn’t seem to help, so I got this. During various points in the day the light changes color to indicate level of filth in the air (I don’t have animals but neighbors walk their dogs past my door, so when I open my door I’m sure dander has made its way in my residence. I noticed that it works harder when the heat is on. (Purchased in late Feb.) **Changing out the furnace filter more often helps the quality of air, and stops me from coughing, IMO. So, to sum up, having this has helped. Keeping it on high makes more of a difference than keeping it on low (or one of the 4 settings). My air is crisper if that makes sense, like when you can finally breathe after being congested, taking large chestfuls of air in, or like fresh mountain air. Yes, the filter isn’t cheap, but it’s good for a year, pending the level of filth it has to clean throughout the year. I’m checking it monthly because I’m retentive like that, but I’d rather be able to breathe and not blow my wad on something I don’t need than something I actually do. ... show more
