Finally, a mask that actually works for side and stomach sleepers. It has a nice wide band that is snug but not too tight and the eye cut outs are great in that there's room for your eyes to move and blink and it doesn't put any pressure on them. I didn't notice much shifting around at all since the band really holds the mask in place and it provides a nice amount of cushioning without it bulking out on the sides as some other masks I had tried were doing. Finally, it fully blocks out light....there's nothing coming thru this at all. I liked this mask so much that I actually purchased a second one as a backup while it was half off. I have tried many sleep masks. This is the first one that has a comfortable strap that isn't too loose or too tight. I love that it has no buckle or Velcro. The strap is thin but sturdy and somewhat stretchy. I have a smallish head circumference, and this fits comfortably and doesn't slip off. It blocks 100% of the light while not being bulky. The material is smooth but not slippery or clammy. I tend to move around and sleep in various positions, and this does not move around, irritate my ears, or make marks on my face. I now sleep through lights coming in the windows or lights being turned on by a nocturnal family member. The only thing that would improve this would be soft, natural material (bamboo or cotton). Another one that I recently tried (Alaska Bear Cotton Eye Mask) had that ultra soft, breathable material, but the strap was way too loose on the smallest setting. ... show more

    • My second Alaska Bear mask, and probably not my last.
I have one of Alaska Bear’s old style sleep mask. I thought I’d lost it on an overnight stay recently. I immediately ordered another. Found the original (black silk mask in bottom of a black overnight bag = no see-it), within minutes of placing the new order. I kept the order because I decided I wanted a second for just in case, and to have one to use while one is drying. So glad I did…I love the new and improved style, but still love my original! They fit great, wash up very nicely (hand wash separately, gently squeeze water out by folding into a towel to roll and squish. Then hang or lay flat to dry…comes out like new). I’ve had my original over a year, washed several times, still looks new, works great and has never left color or stains on my skin or bed linens. I have a small head and this fits great due to their adjustment abilities. It has the best strap and hardware making it totally comfortable for back and side sleepers and stays as tight as you set it. I highly recommend Alaska bear sleep mask, it’s the best, most comfortable and efficient I’ve had and I’ve tried many! Would make a very nice gift too. ... show more

I liked the eye portion of this set - comfortable and cushioned and effective at blocking light - doesn’t touch your eyes - you can blink freely. However the stretch band (non adjustable version) was way too snug. I have a normal sized woman’s head and while it stayed in place fairly well I would wake up with either a tender scalp or ears (depending on where I had placed) every morning. The stretch band is wide and silky - that part is nice but just too snug. Not really the products fault that it’s too tight but wanted to mention it. ... show more

These are the most comfortable sleep masks I've used. I have three pairs. I'm a side sleeper, so others I could not use because they have metal clips on the side that can hurt. These don't. And they really do stay in place. Very happy, and definitely worth the money.

I read quite a few reviews that claimed the Alaska Bear line of eye masks to be reasonably priced and of high quality, and they were right! I did need to fiddle a little with the strap before I found the perfect tension, and I do wonder if a forked-to-3-connections attachment on either side would allow for a more even fit, but perhaps not - I am not a connoisseur of eye masks. For the last 3 weeks I have been sleeping like a baby, and even my husband's light-based alarm clock doesn't rouse me. Also, the mask doesn't seem to contribute at all to my hot flash heat, which was a worry. ... show more

I've tried the buckle version of this mask, and now also the Minimalist one without an adjustment buckle. The non-buckle one is WAAAAY more comfortable! The buckle on the other one always ended up near or on my left ear and after a hour or so, I'd wake up because my ear hurt. This non-adjustable one works great. The band is both wide and soft and it stays in place really well. Remains to be seen whether the elastic will still be tight enough 6 months from now, but I love it regardless. ... show more
