  • A Great Value for the Price
This is a full-feature highly versatile camera with a ton of accessories for different uses. I ride motorcycles and a downhill mountain bike and the camera records ultra-smooth footage in a range of resolutions — I love that you can shoot in 2.7k (2704x1520) which saves space but still gives you super sharp, stable footage — and the super slow 240 fps looks awesome. The camera and accessories are well made and durable. An all-around great camera if you want to record broadcast quality footage in extreme conditions. ... show more

  • Great Value! Great Quality
This is my second Akaso Camera. I love the Overall Quality and Picture quality. Great value! Comes with every mounting accessory you could think of including waterproof case and two batteries.

  • For the money I would give 5 stars
It is clearly not high end, but the video is good. I love the variety of mounts. The feel of the camera and it's buttons is clearly low end and I would prefer to get one more twist into the tripod mount. The light weight works in it's favor and the mounts are solid. I'd love to have a suction cup mount so I could switch from bike to car easily. Totally worth it as a bike dash cam and I think it would work well on a helmet. ... show more

  • Works great, video quality is good
Brave 4 camera works great! Pictures with the waterproof case look a little washed out but I kond of expected it with the plastic housing covered the lens. Nice and small, easy to figure out the controls. I like that you can load and edit the pictures and video on the app when you connect your phone to the camera ... show more

  • Awesome Action Camera
This is an awesome little action camera. Price is very reasonable and features are just what my husband and I wanted for capturing our ATV adventures. Easy to operate, great video quality and expansive mounting options. No complaints at all. No need to spend hundreds on a Go-Pro just to feel like a Pro. ... show more

  • My First Action Camera: An Awesome Surprise!
I had been holding off with purchasing an action camera until now, largely for two reasons: the picture quality / specs were comparable to those of my phone camera, and they were very expensive, even considering the idea of being water proof. Thanks to the alternative I found with this brand, I've discovered a great camera that really exceeds the specs of the GoPros that I've read. And, it lists just at the top end of what I am comfortable paying. To clarify, 20 MP is a dramatic improvement in detail over my 13 MP phone, or our 16 MP Kodak. The 4K video is likewise a vast improvement over our other cameras. It is worth noting that we do not own high end cameras in general, as they are well outside of our budget, so the depth available to us provides challenges when conditions aren't perfect. So the differences in image quality are absolutely visible under the same conditions. Notably, the video quality settings I have tested so far are 4K and 1080P (which I believe is "HD"). There are a few other settings for quality, and the balance is really a trade-off between frame rate and image quality. At 4K, the frame rate maximum is 24fps. At 1080P the maximum is 60fps. The greater frame-rate can be useful in the case of converting existing regular speed footage to a slower playback rate. Also notable, I haven't discovered a setting that is explicitly described as "slow motion", so this effect may be exclusively relegated to the editor's station. As this is my first action camera, I didn't know exactly what to expect. It surprised me how very light weight and small the camera body really is. I was very apprehensive about testing its waterproof casing, but I did, and it definitely is. Additionally, I really appreciate the ability to use my phone as a remote viewfinder, and remote trigger. Okay, that's the gushing praise for the product. The things that I encountered that seemed to be less "gush-worthy" are a few: First (and I accept this as typical of the form), there isn't a "macro" setting. This means that this camera is really intended to capture a wide field of view in good detail. It doesn't really have the ability to capture those intimately close-up images that a macro lens / setting would assist. The depth of field is broad, and it captures images sharply both near and relatively distant, but a macro setting would improve the performance up close. Additionally, the aspect of the images are square. I haven't yet found a setting with which the aspect can be adjusted, and with modern monitors / televisions emphasizing ratios like 16:9 (not square in any case), the result is a video / photo with broad black stripes on either side when viewed on such a monitor. Moreover, the manual is fairly explicit in contrast with the other manuals for similar cameras I purchased very shortly after this one. But, the thing it really lacks are in-depth descriptions of the specs of the camera. Items like focal point measurements can be useful. It is also pretty common for the "time-lapse" setting to have its greatest interval be limited to 5 seconds. I would actually love to see longer intervals become available, up to as much as 24 hours. The idea being that it would be useful to monitor things like plant development at consistent times of day / lighting conditions. The size and versatility of this camera's form would lend itself quite readily to such applications. So the summary is this: Pros- Good quality imagery for the price Small and lightweight Waterproof (with the included casing) Inexpensive Manual is more explicit than other brands for similar product Cons (or not-so-pro) Square aspect video Missing camera specs in manual Short interval limitation for time-lapse setting. Overall, I'm very pleased with this camera. ... show more

  • Review issue
UPDATE: 202305- UPDATE: I am updating this to any future people that might have this issue and stumble across this review. This issue is solved but I want to make it clear NOT by Akaso they never responded to me. Doing research, I found that a lot of these action cams use the same lens. So I found one on amazon and ordered it. Unfortunately it ships from overseas and estimated delivery was 3-4 months. For me that was fine because the camera is unusable, but after 4 weeks it finally shipped. When I got it, I unscrewed the original and replaced it. I had to screw it snug using industrial type tweezers and then slowly back it out in small increments and at each increment take a picture/movie and see how blurry it was. I used a sharpie (water based, not oil based- temp vs permanent) to make a witness mark on the metal portion of the lens (not the glass) and the rim portion of the camera body (think hour hand on a watch dial). Using this I could determine which direction I was going and how much. Eventually I got it to just the right amount and now everything works great (it took about minutes). Playing around with the camera, what I found is that I didn't need to buy a new lens. Using some industrial strength tweezers, I could have done the same thing to the original lens and gotten a workable resolution. I am looking for another camera (gift) but it probably will not be AKASO. Hope that helps someone. UPDATE: 202301 Camera now freezes on startup (about 1 out of 6 times), requires pulling the battery out to make it functional. No communication from Akaso. Bumping camera rating to 1 star. I don't usually do reviews, only if something is exceedingly good or just fails its specifications. A little background, a few months ago I was looking for a budget action cam primarily for hiking and mountain biking. I did my research and read a lot of reviews before I settled on this camera. I've had this camera in use now for a couple months and I'll just give you my quick verdict (if you want more detail continue on): VERDICT: NOT recommended, however I think I may have gotten a lemon. The primary reason for the verdict: everything is just out of focus. I've played with the camera settings including combinations of increasing/decreasing resolution, video quality, sharpness, angle, stabilization, and exposure but nothing seems to work. There are some combinations that are better than others but none fix the focus. I've even tried a factory reset option and that did not help. The focus issue is noticeable on videos viewed on a monitor like a desktop or TV display. The videos show sometimes grainy/artifacts but always out of focus videos. To help explain the focus issue, if I video the room's carpet (the kind with small yarn like pieces sticking up). It looks like one somewhat continuous smooth surface with color variations kinda like someone spilled a slushy. If you didn't know the video was of carpet, I could see someone mistaking it for some kind of brown colored algae. Adjusting the camera's menu sharpness from low to high (or in combination of the above params) just results in an almost cartoon like edges. The best way I can describe it is if you've ever used one of those photo software to transform an image to something resembling a painting or watercolor look. I primarily needed a camera at the 1080p60 frames but I've tested this camera in the 2k, and 4k modes and the focus issue exists there too. 2k seems the best though. 4k you have very distinct stuttering points in the video when your moving. Example you point it straight ahead and then turn to your left/right side. When you view the video it looks like someone hits pause (the frame freezes briefly), and then restarts the video in the new position. So unfortunately I cannot recommend this camera. ... show more
