  • Straightforward and great for beginners
Size: Dual-Action Color: black
I'm new to airbrushes, and have been putting off getting one because I was afraid of spending money on something that would break or I wouldn't be able to figure out. This airbrush was a pleasant combination of affordable, easy to use, and (so far at least) works like a charm! Set-up: I was pretty much able to use it instantly: I took it out, charged it, and then put it all together - the parts are pretty intuitive, so even though there isn't much by way of instructions in the kit itself, the video on Amazon's page were more than enough to help me understand all the parts to set it up. I like how straightforward this is for a beginner like me. I did get confused for a moment when I turned on the air-compressor and it made noise for a second... and then stopped. I thought it was broken! But nope, I just forgot that this was the battery-saving version, where the air-compressor only turns on when you have the airbrush in use. So if you push the "on" button and nothing seems to happen, depress and pull back on the air-brush's trigger - and it should start up again! Once I knew that, I was confidant that I had it all assembled correctly and everything was working as intended. Use: I'm using basic acrylic paints + water to thin them out, although I might switch over to mini-paints - as those are already much thinner. It did take me a bit to get the ratio I wanted, as I needed something thin enough to go through the airbrush but also not just spit out tinted water. I did test out some airbrush thinner medium that I picked up from Hobby Lobby, but honestly the results of that vs just water were the same. I did struggle just a bit with adjusting the spray nozzle. You're supposed to be able to adjust the output by screwing or unscrewing the silver knob at the back, but I couldn't tell that it made much difference - admittedly, though, I didn't try very long, because I was already more than happy with what was coming out! I was getting a spray radius of about a pea-size when up-close, and then obviously larger radiuses as I pulled away. I also got pretty decent coverage when I had the trigger pulled back all the way, although I can understand how going over surfaces multiple times is sometimes needed. (This isn't a paint-brush where you can just instantly get 100% opacity in one stroke, but it's still pretty fantastic.) Cleaning: Again, thanks to the video included on the item's sale page here, cleaning was very straight forward. I've heard that clogging due to poor maintenance is the #1 killer for airbrushes, and was so scared about that - I used the back-flow feature liberally with clean water to wash this out. Then I followed the video and took it apart. Unscrewing the inner piece to get the... the needle-thing on the inside... sorry, I don't know the terminology!... got me stuck for a moment, but that was because I was trying to unscrew the wrong thing. So I went back to the video and tried again - and also used a bit more force, as it was screwed in pretty tightly. Once I'd loosened off that fixture, the metal needle part came out and I was able to give it a good clean. I could see instantly that this NEEDED to be done, as the paint was pretty visible on the needle. After that, it was pretty easy to use the included brushes and such to clean it out and put the airbrush back together again. I'll update if I try it again and learn anything new, or if any issues arise with future uses! So far so good, though! Update 1 (still good!): I used it for a second time and panicked when at first it wouldn't work - air came out, but no paint!! BUT then I took it apart and cleaned the needle, which had some paint on it from before (I was sure I'd cleaned it thoroughly, but apparently I'm not as thorough as I thought). And that was all it took! Once I'd cleaned it up, everything worked fabulously again. So still full marks for this product! ... show more

  • easy to use!
Size: Dual-Action Color: black
Purchased this due to great reviews and reasonable pricing. I just wasn’t sure if I could get the hang of air brushing or not and didn’t want to sink too much money into a tool I may not use. This one is perfect for my use case which is painting 3D prints, easy to get started as a beginner and the directions are easy to follow. The size is great and I appreciate that you don’t need to use the hose if you don’t want to, the rechargeable aspect is what also hooked me since I like the option of using it wherever I want. All in all, it’s been a great introductory air brushing setup and paints well and has been easy to clean. ... show more

  • Love this! My cookies stepped up a notch.
Size: Dual-Action Color: Red
Revising my review... it worked great the few times I used it... now it won't charge at all. Felt silly getting the protection plan... but thankfully I did. Sending it in. Hoping the new one lasts longer. I must say, as a beginner cookie decorator and my first time using an airbrush, I'm in awe. I didn't want to spend a lot on something I may not use often. I've used it 2 times so far for orders. I'm no expert, but it works great for what I need. I'm self- learning, so my decorating skills are a work in progress. I wanted something easy, and fairly inexpensive to start with. I need to get several guns for it for easy swap out for bigger orders, but other than that... its a gem. Spray comes out evenly, no clogging for food colors. P.s. lol I thought the color containers had stoppers... I got in a hurry and poured blue food coloring in without having it connected to the gun. Won't make that mistake again. I my feet and floor were quite smurfy. I'm a work in progress. Lol. ... show more

  • Great introduction kit!
Size: Dual-Action Color: Red
I have been thinking of doing hobby airbrushing for some time. But I did not have the room for an air compressor set up. Let me tell you, this little kit is amazing for those who want to do some casual upgrades to figures, hobby kits, custom paint jobs, and toys. Not only that, but my wife also used it for cake decorating! The compressor holds a charge for a really good amount of time. The airbrush is actually really nice and has some weight to it. All accessories are excellent for cleaning after every use. I have done some nice detail work on some figures, which is all I needed. I am really glad that I could buy something inexpensive that gives me the results that I was looking for. This is a great introduction set for anyone looking to get into the hobby. ... show more
