Description

The AIRAID Cold Air Dam (CAD) Air Intake is engineered to give your engine larger amounts of cooler air to produce more horsepower and torque. The intake system retains the original location of the air filter but delivers a big boost with the addition of a huge open-element air inlet protected by Cold Air Dam panels that help to provide a steady, free-flowing supply of cooler outside air into your engine. The panels mount in the factory air box location and utilize any factory cold air inlet ducts that are present, while adding additional cold air passages to the filter. The panels also keep the filter isolated from the hot engine compartment air by sealing to the underside of the hood via blade-style weather stripping. This CAD system utilizes a replacement low-restriction intake tube. The 360-degree conical AIRAID premium air filter is washable and reusable, less restrictive than traditional paper, and assures superior filtration. The AIRAID Cold Air Dam Air Intake is easy to install with common hand tools. Some AIRAID air intakes are not legal for sale or use in California and other states adopting California emission standards, while others are 50 state legal. Easy to install in my 2012 Dodge Charger R/T. Great sound increase and overall increase in air volume to the intake vs stock. Figment is a bit of a different story didn’t exactly line up for being bolted in however with some wiggle and other movement was able to fit twitch out too much fuss and worth it. If worried about using stock pipes I’d use another unit but this was and would be perfect for those that don’t want to worry about intake temp sensors, or messing with other parts of the intake like the throttle body. ... show more

Is the ....! AND FOR THE RECORD IM A MASTER MECHANICAL ENGINEERER I NOTICED GAS MPG WENT UP BIG TIME ON THE HWY I WAS GETTING 14 MPG JUMPED TO 20... 0 TO 60 WENT FROM 5.1 TO 4.0. .. TEMPERATURE DIDNT EVEN INCREASE AND I LIVE IN THE SOUTH SOUTH .. . THE NATURAL LOOK REMINDS YOU OF DAYTONA.. This is a drop in CAI that takes an hour to install. Although not a true CAI because it doesn't take cold air from the bottom, I understand those types of old school air intake systems are illegal. Nowadays all CAI resemble this even the Mopar ones. I put this on my Dodge Challenger 2011 and you can literally feel the change in HP. I'm sure this gave a hp inc of at least 15-20. I haven't done a dyno but I can just feel it. Prior to install, when I stepped on it the car was sort of choking like it was saying, "you are asking me do all this work but I can't breath". I used to literally hear a choking sound and wonder what that was about. After this drop in CAI, I can hear a rumble where I heard a choking feeling. It's like the car is saying, "dude, I can breath now". You'll definitely feel it when you hit WOT. I'd say this is better than buying a $400 CAI that has the additional tubing. This is just a drop in exactly as shown so you just reuse your existing tubing. Cons: This filter itself (the red mesh area) is very, very flimsy. Mine came in a little bent from the box. If you bang it on the wall to get the dust out, it'll dent. It's basically made of a very very fragile mesh and material. If you bang it on the floor (slightly) to get dust out it'll bend! Just wash it with a hose and let it dry. By bend I don't mean the whole thing will bend but you'll see tiny bends on the mesh and filter material. You figure that can't be good because those straight lines and rivets are no longer straight, they are bent. So that has to affect air flow if it is severe enough I suppose. ~More detailed experience below~ Pros: C.A.R.B. Exempt/Approved, Legal for sale and use in California Easy, straight forward, instructions and installation Looks fantastic Dropped a second on my 0-100mph time (from 15 to 14 seconds) Noticeable, very deep and mean sound when flooring the throttle (wife loves the rumble) Cons: Filter fit, but barely in vehicle (corner edge of filter is pressed against front frame but not damaging filter) Read below, but a couple of minor things were incorrect in instructions Had to do research and contact Airaid to get a definite answer on C.A.R.B. Approval I purchased this cold air intake for my 2012 Dodge Charger R/T Plus. I live in California and was concerned about the new C.A.R.B. law, there are C.A.R.B. Exempt cold air intakes out there, but I couldn't find a definite answer on this model. I contacted Airaid and their support assured me it would come with an exemption sticker, luckily it did and I can tell you that this cold air intake is legal for sale and use in California. It took me a little under an hour from very start to very finish. My engine now has a very deep and mean rumble, especially when you floor it. A couple of minor things that were annoying: one, there's a large bolt that screws into Airaid's rubber filler at the back bottom, the instructions say to use the screw and large washer, I was screwing and pushing very hard but the thread couldn't reach, took off the washer and it worked fine, so the washer wasn't needed; second, the instructions say to remove the vehicles fender screw, that's fine, but they say it's 6mm, maybe for 2011, but my vehicle's screw was 10mm. Minor, but those things matter. All-in-all, for my first time installing a cold air intake, this was very simple and easy to do, worth every penny for the finished look and sound. I will also upload some pictures. Please comment and I will answer to the best of my ability. ... show more
