I reviewed many compressors for several months. I needed a small, quiet, and light weight air compressor to move between my garage and my workshop. I will use this little gem primarily for filling tires, shooting brad nails, cleaning work areas, and blowing debris out of air filters. Nothing big. I received the unit just 2 days after I ordered it. Package was shipped USPS. The box was fully intact and without any signs of mishandling. Inside, the styrofoam held the unit firmly in place. I took off the plastic wrapper and the compressor looked very, very nice. The compressor didn’t have any flaws in the paint or observable material defects of any kind. The craftsmanship and engineering are excellent. Compressor lines are copper tubing and another is a braided stainless steel protective sleeve over rubber (I assume). It’s a very simple design and well put together. I know that the Limodot compressor is Chinese made, but almost every air compressor is made in China. I was originally going to get the Makita 1 gallon or the Metabo 1 gallon (both made in China). The motor on the Limodot is almost twice the hp, and the tank filling time was quicker than the Makita and Metabo. Slightly higher cfm at 90 psi with the Limodot, too. After running the compressor for about 20 minutes, the motor was very warm but not hot. What pursuaded me to go with the Limodot compressor was it seemed to be a bargain price and it is factory guaranteed for 3 years. I don’t normally buy extended warranties, but I was planning on buying an 2 year extended warranty for the Makita or Metabo compressors. So that saved me another $30 on the total overall costs. Additionally, Limodot technical support seems to be quite responsive to their customers, at least according to the reviews I’ve read. The manual is sparse but adequate, in my opinion. The shipping box said the tank is 1.3 gallons. I don’t know if that’s the actual tank capacity or not. But if it is true, 0.3 gallons is larger than their competitor's. Not a big difference, but would you rather have a 1 gallon vs a 1.3 gallon tank? The pressure gauges are adequate sized and easy to read. They are located away from one another and it would be more convenient for them to be both viewed from only one viewing angle instead of two. Using the compressor has been a very nice experience for me. Especially the quiet nature of the unit. The Limodot wasn’t quite as quiet as I had hoped. Especially as the pressure builds inside the tank. I would say the noise level is louder than a refrigerator compressor but less than a home vacuum cleaner. I had my head about 6” away from the compressor while running and could still hear a conversation. The Makita, Metabo, and CAT compressors have a 56 dB rating, while the Limodot’s is 60 dB. However, the Limodot does have an appreciably larger motor, probably why it is louder. The tank fills quickly and seems to cycle a bit more frequently than my Bostich. But that isn’t a problem for my needs. I’m 70 y.o. and moving around heavy compressors is not my idea of having fun. While the Limodot weighs 31 lbs, it’s certainly much easier to tote around than my old, ear blasting Bostich pancake, which supposedly weighs around 30 lbs. The Limodot is actually very easy for me to move around from place to place. I did not like moving the Bostich around. At all. I’m quite happy with my purchase of the Limodot air compressor. The value, the 3 year warranty, and the Limodot performance have convinced me this compressor best meets my personal needs. If you need a small compressor, you need not look any further. Arrived in a box that looked like it was thrown down the stairs a few times. However great packing did protect the unit and there was no damage. OK, Generator ran fine right out of the box. I like that it will run from an extension cord. It is so quiet I thought it was not running at first. I use it for tractor and vehicle tires mostly. It does not have the CFM needed for most air tools. It does quickly recharge but, if you are using constant air it just does not have the capacity. I have an old Craftsman 3.5 hp,15gallon compressor. That provides more CFM to use air tools. But it is clunky and heavy. So if you think you can run a paint sprayer or something you need more than this unit can provide. This is a compact and nice looking well functioning unit. It is built like a tank and all metal quality materials. I highly recommend it for light work. Had read good reviews and thought it was made in USA after looking at their website BUT it's made in China. Having said that, it's well built, lightweight, VERY quiet, keeps pressure and does its job well. The bad: the instructions are not clear and there is a lot of misidentified parts and obviously badly translated. Had to contact support for the test run (I didn't want to screw it up; it took a couple of days to hear back) but I got everything working OK. The packaging was a little iffy. One of the valves had punctured the foam padding but after test run, it turned out it was OK. This is one of the most quiet compressors I've tested. I recently purchased this compressor to replace a smaller much noisier compressor I keep in the attic. I have a pull-down 50 foot hose on a retractable reel and it has worked well for years. However, every time I turned it on it was really noisy; to the point of embarrassment with the neighbors. And it seemed to take forever to fill the tank. This compressor has a 6x bigger tank and is so quiet I cannot hear it. If it wasn't for the gauge I have mounted beside the hose drop, I would not know it is filling and when it is full. The Limodot, portable 1 gal Ultra Quiet Air Compressor exceeded my expectations. It is Quiet, recoups air pressure rapidly and is compact in size. Although this is going beyond its intended use, with the psi set at 90, a handheld portable sandblast unit with 80grit glass bead provides the bead-blast approximately 10 second run time followed with a needed 4 second pause to recoup the air pressure. I ordered 1 that came slightly damaged and has some broken glass. I reached out and very very quickly recieved a response back and was compensated for the damages very well. They were amazing to work with and very understanding. As for the actual air compressor it's nice and easy to set up out of the box and while it was running I'm able to carry on a conversation. It's the right size for me but if you were planning on using it for a more industrial application you might wanna go with a bigger one. It's also light and good value for the money. ... show more
