  • This does not reliably charge my eGolf
Size: 48A
I purchased this charger from this seller a month or so ago on a different Amazon link, which seems to be broken (at least my Orders page says it is defunct). We have two EVs, a Tesla and a 2016 Volkswagen eGolf. The Tesla seems to charge reliably (using the Tesla adapter), but charging the eGolf is an exercise in frustration: - The charger does not seem to want to connect reliably. I have to plug / unplug / plug multiple times to get the charger to work, and sometimes it takes me 20 or 30 insertions before it will begin charging. Sometimes it works on the first or second insertion. - It never seems to lock the port into the car. This isn't a deal-breaker, because it's at home, but it should lock like every other J1772 plug I've used (including my last L2 charger, and the L1 charger that comes with the vehicle). - I have never been able to get the charger to work with my car's delayed (non-peak) feature. This may be related to the non-charge issue when plugging it in -- when the car attempts to turn on the charging at the right time, the charger does not respond to start charging. All other J1772 chargers (e.g., Chargepoint, my last L2 charger, my L1 charger) all work reliably. ... show more
