  • Easy to set up and works very well
I use this motion sensor in an Alexa smart home system to turn some lighting on and off in a room we use for storage in our apartment. This is very convenient since the light switch for the room is behind one of the double glass doors one would open to enter the room. We have several Echo 4th gens in the home so this motion sensor was immediately found by Alexa and was extremely easy to set up and use in routines. It has been 100% reliable and I couldn't be happier with it. UPDATE 12/23/2024: The first one was working so well, I purchased a second motion detector to perform the same function in another room. These are SO handy! ... show more

  • Best Motion sensor for smartthings
I have tried other sensor for smartthings, even the aeotec trisensor, and this is the only one that works. a must for smartthings!

  • Responsive but Battery Drain is a Concern
The Aeotec SmartThings Motion Sensor works seamlessly with Zigbee2MQTT and Home Assistant. It’s fast to respond and includes a temperature reading, which is a nice extra feature. However, as a new device, the battery seems to be draining faster than expected, so I can’t fully gauge its long-term battery life yet. It would also be nice if there were an easy way to adjust the dwell time. Overall, it’s a responsive and capable sensor, but the battery drain is something to watch. ... show more

  • Fast and reliable. You get what you pay for ;-)
After trying several Z-Wave based motion sensors in my Hubitat based setup, I switched to these and what a difference! Reliable, and most important FAST motion detection beats all competitors that I tested. I am using them in the stairway to downstairs (no need to switch on the lights, just open the door - really cool when you got your hands full) and in the downstairs storage area. They detect motion to about 30 feet (in my setup), batteries last longer than a year. I would buy these again any time and highly recommend these over any other brand. Yes, quite expensive, but very well worth the additional cost. ... show more

  • Works with SmartThings
I bought this to a replace a broken motion sensor that was discontinued. Works well with our smart home system. Pretty easy to configure and set up a routine (ours uses motion to turn on lights and lack of motion to turn them off).

  • awesome sensor
good sensor even has a temperature sensor inside. Battery life might be a thing, but works well for my use case.

  • Works perfectly with Smartthings
Aeotec is becoming my go-to for Smartthings integrations. You can do much more when a product is Smartthings capable than just Google and Alexa. So many ways to automate the motion to a light switch. I have them connected to multiple lights like the bathroom so during the day when you walk in it cuts on, at 12 am or 2 am when you walk in it cuts the bathroom lights on to 15% so you're not blinded by the lights going to 100% To solve the problem when your in the shower and it cuts off when it doesn't see motion before you set this routine up, see what the temp is before the shower is on and when the shower is running check the temp then create a routine in smartthings that when the light is on AND the temperature is above a certain temp, make the light stay on =) If the battery is at 5% or lower it will also send a notification to everyone's connected phone. If they could come up with a better price, they could be the go-to for home automation. ... show more

  • Fast and responsive
We keep this sensor about seven feet away from a Samsung SmartThings Station. It's blocked by an exterior wall consisting of stucco, drywall, and insulation. The sensor is extremely responsive to slight motion. We love this motion sensor. The only thing we wish it had is the ability to adjust the detection distance. ... show more
