  • Google clearly doesn't want customers
Color: Chalk
Plugged it in: took over half an hour to update; tried to connect it to the Google app on my phone: it wouldn't; went through all kind of troubleshooting, uninstall, clear cache, clear storage, and so on and so forth. Re-installed the app, tried to sign in to Home, and Google verification doesn't work. why? error message: 'this phone has been used for verification too many times, enter a different phone # where to send the verification code'. Are you kidding me? I did only ONE verification, one time, when I first signed in, over 3 hours ago. The hub did not connect, I'm trying again according to your 'help' DB, and I can't be signed back on? Why would I have another mobile number at my disposal, at any time? Why would it be secure to enter a random phone number for verification, that could then be used however? What are these software developers thinking? certainly not of any smart security practices. I looked online and found several others complaining of the same problem and - most of all - receiving no help at all from Google tech support. Short of having another phone number to feed this voracious security freak, you are out for good. Did I want to get stuck this time and however many other times in the future this might happen, with calling a friend and asking for the favor? Certainly NOT! This not-ready-for-primetime, utterly stupid piece of wanna-be AI is going right back. Google, get your act together and hire better trained programmers and software system engineers. ... show more

  • A very useful accessory for your smart home hidden behind a painful setup
Color: Chalk
I purchased this product to help me manage my growing list of smart devices and to be honest I was a little afraid that I wouldn't actually use it much considering I already have quick access to Google Home's functionalities via several Alexas, my phone, and my voice. Day 1 it's already put my fears to bed. The dedicate Home Control interface is actually better than my phone's Google Home app and well-optimized for tablet use (unlike most apps on my own Android tablet). I do wish I could customize the app list since I don't use a lot of the installed services or even add more apps, but it's not a big deal. Media management is also pretty great. The speakers are surprisingly solid quality, I think a little better than Alexa speakers (sorry Amazon). I wouldn't recommend watching anything on a 7-inch screen but it's quite easy to cast stuff onto your smart tv; you can even set connected devices for default display/audio playback so with one touch you can use the Hub as a fancy tv remote or control music quickly. My biggest gripe is with the setup. Like other buyers, my Nest Hub did start up in a foreign language (Mandarin) but adding the device in your Google Home app on your phone and scanning the Hub's QR code should immediately fix this quirk. It also took a few tries to get it to connect to my wifi but that could have been my internet being stupid. In addition, I encountered a bug where the Hub "freezes" when giving me the initial feature tour (It wouldn't let me progress through the tutorial and I could access the Photo Gallery and settings but nothing else) but this is fixed by rebooting the Hub on your Home app and letting it update. All of this is only annoying for initial setup, but as someone already entrenched in the Google ecosystem I wish it was a little more plug and play. Overall I don't believe the Nest Hub is worth the ~$100 price tag per unit in its current state, but with further refinements or a 3rd generation I would absolutely put one of these in every room. Despite that, it's still good value compared to Amazon and Apple's offerings and a useful accessory for smart home control. ... show more

  • Same as description/Love it
Color: Chalk
It’s exactly what it says it is..it connects to the internet super easy. It’s all on an app from your phone. The sound & picture quality are amazing. I use it everyday for music, weather, asking random questions, & home security too. You can connect cameras to it. You can sync your entire phone to it & use it for phone calls or texts. 10/10 recommend! ... show more

  • Not a regular Android user, but this works as a great smart alarm
Color: Chalk
I am not a regular Android user, but I love the alarm this offers. Great to wake me up to the sunlight, followed by custom sounds. It obviously has a ton of other features that can be used, but for the price, it is hard to beat just as a smart alarm!

The only thing I had to do to this, was updating the Language. After that it was easy peasy.

  • Made in China
Color: Chalk
I purchased this device and all was well until it started to come on by itself, without command. The screen started shutting off when the lights went off. I tried adjusting the settings and I even called Google support. Google support asked me to press both the volume up and down buttons to reboot the device. When I did this, the device rebooted in Chinese. After over 2 hours of rebooting both the app, the device and adding my local Wi-Fi, the Chinese print and verbal language never removed. This device must have a software issue. Other consumers stated similar problems in the reviews. Nice device but the shortcuts (manufactured in China) was distasteful. ... show more
