  • Rapid and positive action
My bathroom has no windows, so it was very dark when you went in. Now, one of the sensors is mounted at the top of the door and turns on a small light via a Kasa switch and Smartthings app. Another sensor is used as a vibration sensor and is mounted on the lid of the toilet. When the lid is raised an overhead light and fan goes on via another Kasa switch. Both things turn off after a set amount of time. It was easy to set this up using Smartthings and Kasa switches. I was using a different vibration sensor and IFTTT before, and it took 12 seconds before the light and fan would come on. Now it's almost immediate! ... show more

  • Keeps my automatic deadbolt from activating when the door's open
Works well. Strong magnet allows it to operate effectively even when the two pieces are not exactly in the same plane (one on the door molding, the other on the door itself). I use it with my smarthings hub to control when the deadbolt activates (only when the door is closed).

  • Great all-around sensor for home assistant automations!
I've got them on my non-smart washer and dryer. The automation was easy to build and I haven't let a load of laundry go mildewy since. 10/10. - Idle -> Vibration for 1m: set to running - Vibration -> still for 1m: set to done, pop a notification. - Door opens -> set to idle I haven't tried them for anything else yet, but I might grab another for the dishwasher. ... show more

  • These are amazing.
My first purchase of this device was for a dishwasher, with the intention of using both the humidity/temperature and the door sensors to determine if my "dumb" dishwasher had finished it's cycle. While the humidity/temperature didn't work as I hoped (neither changed noticeably during the cycle), the door sensor worked phenomenally, even though it wasn't perfect lined up. I've been adding door/window sensors around my house, and have gone through several other sensors at my front door, where there is an uneven gap between the door and the paneling around it. Another brand sort of worked - it had to sit sideways, and then it didn't have a good enough point to stick, so it fell off frequently (triggering false alarms on my Home Assistant automations that the door was open). Enter this device. You can see by the photo that it is not only some distance apart, but also not on the same physical plane. Doesn't matter. As you can see by the second photo, it's STILL showing as closed. Not only that, it's not awkwardly protruding at the door (the other that sorta worked tipped into the doors path occasionally) and it just WORKS. If you need a door/window sensor that can stretch across gaps, THIS is the only device you want to choose. ... show more

  • Works with no issue with SmartThings
I'm totally blind. The first thing is when I got this out of the box, has a hard time determining how the get the cover off of it to feel the battery. Then had a hard time determining where the reset button was to be able to press it to reset it. It is a little tiny whole on the cut off flat side to be able to reset the sensor. Affter that, I got it online to the SmartThings with no issue. I couldn't figure out using IDE how to get the switch to go into garage mode from door sensor mode. I ended up having to use the SmartThings App on my phone to be able to do that. Messed around with that a good hour. Next created 2 routinge within Alexa to tell me when the door is open or closed. I didn't find out that the sensor isn't real responcive. So it doesn't detect when the door is starting to open. Look like it only detects it is open when the sensor is flat on its face and close when it is standing on its side. I also found out that the flat side must be pointing to either the LEFT or RIGHT for the sensor to work correctly in garage door mode. If the flat side is down or up, it will not work. Determined all of this just by playing with the sensor with the Alexa routines running. Again probably took me another 1our or so to determine how the sensor works. Instructions wern't helpful to a person that is totally blind. What I don't like is the sensor is meant to be put on the door with double sided sticky tape. I wish it had a mounting plate that you could mount to the door and then clip the sensor into it. This will be going on a metel door. So even magnets would be better then double sided sticky tape. I've not put this on the garage door as of yet! But just playing with it; I could guess the door would have to be about half way open before the sensor would trigger saying it is open if you use an Alexa routine. It would probably have to be all the way closed before it would say it is closed. Not put it on the door as of yet being I'm getting a new door and being this uses double sided tape! Wouldn't be able to use it and then pull it off and restick it. This is why I said magnet would be better. ... show more

  • Notifications for my gate.
It’s great keeping me informed if someone comes through my back gate. Luckily, no one that I didn’t want in has come in yet. But if they do, I will be notified. Battery life is it exactly great, I have to change it out about every two months. At least Alexa notifies me when it’s getting low.
