  • Better than dpn for socks
Size: 2.5mm
So I knit a lot of socks and I have knitted them with dpns, 10" circulars, magic loop and now with these Addi Crazy Trio needles (aka Flexi flips in the US). There are pros and cons to each method and it comes down to which method is the easiest and fastest for you which is a personal preference. The Addi crazy trio (flexi flips) are nice needles and much better than dpns in knitting socks and no laddering as with dpns. The crazy trio (flexi flips) have turbo on one needle and rocket on the other. The join is kind of rough though. Not super bad but it does catch the yarn which slows you down. Sizing is a little off too if you use a generic US gauge to measure...by about a half size so a size 1 is more like a size 1 1/2. The big thing that bothers me though in addition to the slightly rough join is the way the needles kind of get in the way when you are knitting in the round. You have your yarn on two Addi crazy trio/flexi flips and working with the third. All the needles have a flexible bend in the middle but what that means is that when you are working the front of the sock, the back of the sock on the back needle bends in half and you get these two needles in a wide "v" which gets in the way constantly as you are knitting the front of the sock. Enough to really slow you down. I actually prefer Addi's 10" sockwonder needles (where you have one short needle and one longer needle and a short cord that measures 10" in length) and knitting around and around vs. the flexi flips. However, the circulars can cramp your fingers after a while. My favorite way of making socks is magic loop on Louet Kollage needles with the firm cord on 40" but that's another review. I think if Addi made the crazy trio/flexi flips just an inch or so longer with shorter needles and a longer cord and smooth out the joins, that would make them more enjoyable to use. ... show more

  • I'll stick with magic loop
Size: 2.25mm
this is more gimmick than anything else IMHO

  • Not for use with large hands
Size: 2.25mm
With my big hands, I find it rather difficult to use these short needles. As much as I had hoped that they could be a good compromise between standard DPNs and magic loop, they just aren't. Not for me. I love the idea, and I would use them extensively if they were a bit longer. But even after working with them for a few hours, I still can't find a way to hold them for more than a few minutes without them being uncomfortable. If you're able to do so, you may find they are great needles. And, by all means, use them. They are well made, and a novel concept that actually works for those with smaller hands or those who are accustomed to working with 9" circulars. Neither of those applies to me, unfortunately, and I'm likely to throw them into my drawer and just forget about them. ... show more

  • Nice Alternative to DPNs
Size: 2.25mm
I like using these special, hard to find, but expensive needles. I’m not a big fan of regular DPNs so these are a nice change for sweater cuffs and other small round knitted projects. The cable portion of the needles I received are the older “gold” type rather than the current blue or red. One point, mine were shipped from Germany which I didn’t know that until after I ordered. The shipping went fine and the items were received in a reasonable amount of time. ... show more

  • Ergonomically designed
Size: 3.0mm
I usually knit socks on a 9" circular, using dpns for heels and toes. These intrigued me. They were a bit finicky for the cast-on, but it was easy going after that. I like that there are fewer needles to deal with than dpns, and the tips are nice to have the choice of sharper or blunter. They are easy for my small hands to use. I made some mini hat ornaments for my tree with these. I have plans to use them for a pair of boot socks after my Christmas knitting is done. ... show more

  • Great needles
Size: 2.25mm
Took me a little bit to figure out just how to use them but now love them. I hate conventional DPs and usually do magic loop for socks. These are great Add I quality with nice tips. They are slick so watch out!

  • No stitches slipping off!
Size: 2.25mm
What a fabulous way to make little sweater ornaments, tiny animals and teeny tiny mocha-mochi. These needles revolutionize miniature knitting. Very Pink Knits has a terrific video on YouTube. I thought they seemed expensive, but found a good price and am not at all disappointed. My poor old arthritic fingers are very happy with me! ... show more
