I've only tested this pump in a bucket so far, so I can't say anything about longevity. It's replacing a different brand where the switch broke and left it running continually when the water was all gone. The sump is dry now, but the pump may be needed when the snow melts, so it's plugged in and waiting. It's simple to install - set in the sump, plug into 120V, connect the hose adapter/backflow valve. It turns on when the water is about 2 inches, it pumps a lot of water, and then it stops when all but a fraction of an inch of water is gone. The one surprise was that it keeps running 10 seconds after the water is down below the switch. I think that's an improvement over the one it replaces, since it will get more of the last bit of water. ... show more

instructions say this pump will turn on in 2 inches of water, pump down to 2/5 inch, run ten seconds, then turn off. In fact it pumps down to about 1/4 inch (ok), then runs for about a minute and a half before it turns off. This will probably burn the motor up in one or two times using it. The manufacturer website is inoperative, meaning there is no support. Amazon allows a month to return it. I would consider keeping the pump if I knew the manufacturer could be contacted and the pump returned if there was an issue but since that is not possible I don't want to take a chance. Just a comment, hopefully this won't get my review deleted, but I'm seeing a lot of this on Amazon these days. Somebody will put something out for sale, then go out of business ten minutes later so they can't be contacted and the item can't be returned. Hopefully (!) Amazon will address this issue soon. I'd suggest, if a manufacturer sells something on Amazon and goes out of business Amazon should cover the return refund for a year. 4/9/2024 update: Pump no longer works at all. ... show more
