The media could not be loaded. Good- flow rate. Thing pumps like a champ and can easily keep up with the constant flow of water into our basement after a HEAVY storm. Bad- float switch. It's terrible. Hard to trigger and mounted way too high. I zip tied mine low to the ground and that kinda worked but when the water rises slowly it floats up without triggering the pump. I have mine on a 100’ PVC line pumping about 10' up then out to our pond. I added a larger diameter anti flow back valve. Hooking this to a garden hose would be doing it an injustice. Used it to pump out the nasty green water in my pool, it pumped it completely dry except for about 1/4” or so!

    • Won't work in shallow water
Style: 1/2HP 2906GPH Float Switch
The automatic float switch on this needs to be above the pump itself. The pump is over a foot tall. This means that in order for this thing to work, the body of water you put it in needs to be deeper than the pump. It also means that it won't completely drain that body of water. Once the water level gets to the top of the pump, the float switch is no longer at the height/angle it needs to be in and the pump turns off. If the float switch cord was attached lower to the pump or if the cord was more flexible and longer, it might be able to function properly. I would not recommend this to anyone that needs to completely drain the body of water they're using it on. I tried to use it for a popup drain and a small fish pond and the automatic float switch was basically useless. ... show more
