Review: ACPOTEL Night Vision Binoculars - Night Vision Goggles Infrared Goggles for Adult, 3'' Large Screen Infrared Goggles Binoculars with 32GB Memory Card & Rechargeable Lithium Battery This review might not be relevant if they change the discount but right now you can get these for $160 which is a great deal for this IR capable monocular/camera. These are more like a camera than traditional “binoculars”. (These are actually technically a monocular because they only have one lens. They just look more like binoculars because of the wide screen that you can view with both of you eyes. I have other IR monoculars but the camera sets these apart. This is my first IR camera that takes video and still pictures in daylight and darkness. There are three different levels of IR illumination for capturing images at varying distances. They come with a removable rechargeable battery but battery does charge internally via supplied usb-c cable so not necessary to remove the battery for charging. (You could get an extra battery to have a backup at the ready if that’s important for you. Or if you’re like me, you may have about ten external power sources that you could plug into.) Other items that are included are a user manual, 32gb Micro SD, carrying case with strap, strap for the ‘camera’ and cleaning cloth. The camera seems to be well built and fairly weighty. It has a rubberized protective outer shell and easy to use buttons which is important because you may be using it in darkness. There is a focus wheel on the left handed side that takes a bit of getting used to. The Micro SD card is removable but not necessary to transfer files as you can do so via USB connection. The manual is informative and worth reading to eliminate possible frustration from not understanding the various features and how to use them. The images are very unique due to the cameras zoom and IR capabilities. They are good quality considering you wouldn’t be able to capture any other way.     • A kind of Nightvision
So this is basically a camera with an lcd screen housed in a heavy waterproof exterior. It uses IR light to illuminate close by objects for ‘night vision.’ I was hoping to use it for Astronomy and it does not work for that use case. Ive used actual signal amplified mil standard night vision for astro with a telescope and it works amazing and thats what I was hoping for. They do mount to a tripod and they take pictures with an sdcard added and can take video. Nice features. They do make near objects visible in pitch black conditions. The single screen is kinda a chore to get use too. If you like binoculars these may br a lil weird to use but you get used to them. They work they are rugged. Night vision with these binoculars is really good. Once focused properly, they give a very bright, clear picture. The binoculars are simple to use, even for a beginner. There are different IR brightness levels to play around with as well as a 5x optical zoom/ 8x digital zoom. I liked that they are rechargeable (it comes with a rechargeable battery and USB). One of the best things about these night vision binoculars is the oversized screen for a wider range of view. They also come with a few accessories like a micro sd for picture/video storage and a nice storage case. The weight of these felt a little on the heavy side, but nothing outrageous. They aren't the best binoculars to use in the day time. They just didn't perform like my non-night vision pair. I purchased these binoculars hoping I could use them for nighttime boating. Seeing poles and buoys at night can be difficult at night when boating, so I wanted a product to aide in that. These binoculars are good at making nighttime visuals better, but its not excellent. These binoculars are not traditional in the sense of just lenses. The binoculars are outfitted with a camera, which then transmits that visual onto a screen that is visible in the viewfinder. This method makes viewing more difficult than traditional binoculars. The view is not wide angle, clarity is lacking, operation is difficult and takes a learning curve, and the light from the screen can effect users night vision when not looking through the binoculars. That being said, the unit itself is well built, battery life is ok, a 32G micro SD card is included for recording, the unit has a lot of features but requires a learning curve, and does have fairly good night vision. A mixed bag, but pretty good overall. I've tested quite a lot of night vision goggles, and while most in this price range are quite similar they usually have one or two features to separate them from other models. The standout feature here is the rechargeable battery, which I find much more convenient than the more typical power option of AA batteries. When I'm out on the Mongolian steppe I don't want to be carrying a few packs of AAs with me, but I've always got a power bank to keep my phone topped up. The 3" screen on this model is clear and bright, though I've tested other goggles around the same price that offer a significantly larger screen up to 5". In real world use it doesn't make all that much difference, but it's always nice to have a larger screen. The overall build quality is very good. These things are a touch heavy but they feel sturdy and well made, so I imagine they'll stand up to a little punishment over the years, always an important feature with outdoor gear. All in all I'm happy. These things give you a great, bright and sharp image even in pitch darkness. ... show more
