Arrived on time, double boxed in a bubble case and a cardboard box. Appearance was excellent, no marks and completely clean. Power supply appears to be generic. Works well. Battery health is 98%, and shows only three charging cycles, so a new replacement. After normal first setup, I ran all self tests, which it passed. This model is 2 years old, and OS support ends in June 2032, which is more than long enough for me. First time using a Chromebook and so far very pleased with speed and connectivity. Updates are effortless. Glad to be rid of Windows, but still able to do everything I need to through Office 365 online. This model predates official Chromebook Plus certification, but was promoted as a gaming chromebook and has the necessary specs. Also first time buying a renewed laptop. So far very pleased overall. I'm 82 and have been using personal computers since 1981. I switched from Microsoft to ChromeOS in 2014. My previous favorite was the Acer Spin 714 and my current daily was a Acer Spin 513 with the Kompanio processor. This Acer Spin 516 is, for me, great. I'm not a gamer so I'll skip over that part. The four major features for me are display, keyboard, trackpad, and speakers. The keyboard is a five for me. I learned to type on a manual typewriter and this keyboard holds its own. The trackpad I'd give a four. It's fine but I've used better. For years, I've been running sound through a Bluetooth speaker but that isn't necessary with this. For full disclosure, I'm older than most trees and mostly deaf. I thought the display was okay until I ran a 4k video with sound. The display and the sound were fantastic. Lastly, I love refurbished. Always have. This is great. It came with a charger that I haven't tried. I would recommend this as a all-around great chromebook especially at the refurbished price. I had order another chromebook and Amazon shipping lost it. I ordered a second and Amazon shipping said they'd delivered it but they hadn't. This one arrived at my home. Thank you, Amazon, for losing the first two. Ten Days Later I've been using the Acer 516ge to surf the net, write, and watch a movie. I live with my dog and am chronically unemployed so I spend a lot of time on the laptop. I have been delighted with this chromebook. The keyboard is fine. When I was using MS desktops I had mechanical keyboards but I can type as well on this keyboard. In day to day use the display is fine. But, that's because of content. If I run a 4k Dolby video both the display and the speakers are great. I am 82-years-old and mostly deaf and I think the display and audio are wonderful. My only negative is the trackpad. I prefer glass. I have an old Apple trackpad connected by a USB port that I usually use. The trackpad moves fine but gestures and taps are not consistent. ... show more

Great computer, biggest fall back is user can NOT INSTALL Microsoft Office on the computer to use without WiFi. It's not an Acer thing, it's a chrome book thing.

Amazing purchase. Love it! So speedy, light, and easy to read. "Right click" is now 2-finger click on the track pad. Scroll up/down/side to side is now 2-finger slide on track pad. *** The reason it does not come with Microsoft Office is because it's a Chromebook, not a windows device.     • Makes high pitch noise
I usually have very good experience with the used/refurbished products. I have been buying Acer Chromebooks since they were available. As soon as one malfunctions, I purchase another one. I don't use it for any computing. It is my only connection to the world due to my disability. I like the 516 GE model. No touchscreen though. I like the lit keypad and single keyboard without the numerical pad similar to the original Acer. Sound and video are adequate. Two rubber stoppers on the back are a good improvement; the four little square stoppers were constantly falling off till I lost even the taped ones. I'm sending this unit back due to a high-pitched noise that occurs once in a while. I can hear a noise similar to the start of a DVD player, followed by bad transmission gear, and then comes the squeaking. My repair technique of turning it on and off didn't bring any lasting change. That is the extent of my technical knowledge. I hope the next one will not have this noise issue. I already purchased another 516GE. ... show more
