  • Amazing

I can't believe the quality of the picture for the price. I've looked at a lot of these guns. And for $ 200 well worth the money.....!

  • ACEGMET VS TOPDON, TOPDON WINS
I have three PHONE Thermal imaging sensors. FLIR'S top phone one, TOPDON, and this. FLIR is still by far the worst of all three save for its retractable USB C port that can bypass most cases even otterbox cases. The other two have trouble with your standard TPU case. ACEGMET Pros vs TOPDON: -Size; holy cow is this WAY SMALLER THAN THE pics let on. It's a 1in x 1in x 0.75in device (that's including the sensor hump but not the USB C connector. Well that does it for the pros for the ACEGMET sorry... ACEGMET CONS vs TOPDON: -Slightly slower refresh rate. They both claim 24HZ which might be true, if you put the ACEGMET on a tirpod, but you move the device and camera around and there's a bit of a stutter as it re-orients itself. -with that also comes greater lag. Not by much but about a half-second slower than TOPDON's 1 second lag. Meaning time between real world action and what shows up on the viewfinder. ACEGMET VS TOPDON TIE: -Range Trade OFF. Topdon has a lower LOW RANGE but also a lower HIGH range. Acegmet 5F-1112F vs -4F - 1022F. SO really comes down what are you going to need more of? HIGH TEMP READINGS OR LOW TEMP READINGS. Personally I think having that -4F buffer might be more useful than that extra 90F range on the top end. BUT objectively, I think it's a wash. Fun Fact: The topdon app that's on the playstore works with the ACEGMET device. Plugged it in, and Topdon opened right up. Conclusion: I got this guy for like $170 where I got the Topdon for $220 (after coupon), now both are kind of equally priced at $250/$260 range though I think Topdon at least has a coupon on offer. So if this was still $170, I'd say go with it. BUT now that they're equally priced. TOPDON, mostly since that re-orientation is annoying and the lag is worse. One thing I do wish ACEGMET did include was a lens cover since that's just so sensitive of a piece to have exposed to the elements. I'm going to hit the ol' Amazon and my parts bin to see if a GOPRO lens cover would fit it. I might have a solution for that. I think the old SJCAMs had a similar lens size. In an attempt to be small it's clear that it is relying HEAVILY on their app to be the brains, where the TOPDON clearly used the excess space to include a co-processor, or a processor of its own that does the heavy lifting while all the phone is doing is providing a Viewfinder and filter applicator. it's amazing for its size, and works well. This and Topdon are 1000x better of a choice than FLiR. ... show more

  • Very nice
Size: 256 x 192(2024)
I have used FLIR cameras in the past that cost thousand or more. This camera will do what you need around the house. I fix lawnmowers and I used it to see if both cylinders have the same heat signature. This was I can see if a cylinder is lean or rich or have a weak spark. Don’t buy the cheaper one with half the resolution. This one works but any less resolution you would not be happy. Works great on electrical panels as well ... show more

  • Very useful
Very useful for household use. We are remodeling a home that was poorly built. Helpful to see where we can make energy improvements. We aren’t looking for exact temperatures so I cannot comment on that aspect. The image is good enough to identify what you are looking at but isn’t high definition as mentioned in some reviews. Easy to use out of the box. ... show more

  • Impressive sensitivity and thermal differentiation
I found that the Google Play store app called TC001 TopDon works great with this camera. I didn't really want to side load something sketchy. Can pick different rainbow or gray visualizations. The camera is small and light enough that it stays snapped into the USB C socket while walking around with it on the phone. It has an aluminum case and really seems like a quality build. You will see things in a whole new way, believe me. Wonder if your dog was on the couch before you got home? Now you'll know. See what parked cars have been running within that last few hours. Sasquatch, paranormal spirits, you name it, you may see more than you want to ha. Only downside for me and it is a big one is that it doesn't seem to use the UVC 1.0 spec and none of the Android USB security camera apps will work for it. The ShenYao China USB Camera Pro app DOES work however, and can convert it to an IP stream, has motion detection and can Email/FTP videos if you have the patience to figure it all out. (I did get the Motion detect/FTP to work to a local server.) If you are converting to a stream, use on a local network only and BE SURE to disable UPNP in both the App and your router, otherwise hundreds of people will hack your camera from all over the world. Not ideal. Otherwise if you just want an affordable camera to analyze heat signatures this really works well. For the few extra bucks you'll want to get this higher resolution version. The dog pic is a Black Lab! Not so black now. The split screen is the USB camera app set to the higher res, it does two modes somehow. The view of basement is with zero light, complete darkness. ... show more

  • Does a good job of showing temperature differences, but the temperature readings are way off
You can easily see hot and cold spots on the screen. The problem is that the temperatures can be 10°F too low (or worse). The temperature reading will start out correct but quickly decrease until the device recalibrates itself. It recalibrates about once every 20s, so the reading is incorrect most of the time. Therefore, I would not use this device to take temperature readings. I would only use it to locate hot or cold spots. Then use a regular infrared laser thermometer to take the actual temperature. Keep in mind, not all surfaces have the correct emissivity to be measured. For example, you can't take the temperature of a mirror with this device. ... show more

  • Watchout for charger type
Size: 256 x 192(2024)
Good product overall, well built, gets the job done. Beware it may arrive with a completely depleted battery - which may be an issue in its own - and it does not accept any type of charger, even though it is USB C. It only takes the 5V low wattage chargers and if you try the higher wattage chargers nothing happens. For a 200+ USD product this is borderline inacceptable. The framerate feels more like 10 FPS rather than the stated 25 FPS, but 99% of the time that is not an issue. Resolution seems ok visually, but the screen quality is sub par, especially the viewing angles. ... show more
