I was pretty excited to give this combo a try. I'm a fan of Abu Garcia and have used them before. The first combo I spooled up, and when taking it out instantly found that the bail would lock up and prevent me from reeling in. I was frustrated, but ordered a replacement. Amazon has the best customer service, they got it out prior to me sending the old one back so I might change out the spools. However, when I got the second combo in, it had the EXACT SAME issue. This is incredibly disappointing, and not representative of the quality I've come to expect from Abu Garcia. Unfortunately I'm returning this and will pick up something else. If you're considering this rod and reel combo, my suggestion would be to look into something else. ... show more

First time use today went successfully, nice peacock on with the combo. Felt nice and durable and the reel feels great as well, also able to feel everything which is great when fishing. Nice and light, feels great in the hand.

This is a nice entry-level pole,, I'm not one to buy expensive fishing poles, all my poles have been Shakespeare's around $30 and I only do stream fishing, So spending the $70 was a big jump for me. The weight of this Set up, impressed me the most , It's very lite. Took this up to Lake Shasta for a week, was really impressed and satisfied with the casting/reeling.
