  • This thing is beautiful!
Just starting to make my way through this work of art and it's truly amazing! 🤩 I seriously hope they reprint the remaining 2 volumes in absolute format. 🙏🏽

  • An All-Time Classic
I've never been much of an aficionado of graphic novels, but I've always had time for Transmetropolitan. Warren Ellis created a hilarious, deranged, brilliantly-realised universe in which homeless three-headed cats roam the streets smoking cigarettes, household appliances manufacture their own drugs, and humans are continually using new methods of genetic and technological tinkering to re-imagine their own bodies. Such a universe demands an equally deranged protagonist, and Ellis delivers with Spider Jerusalem, gonzo journalist extraordinaire. A man obsessed with The Truth, who dishes out harsh words and violence in equal measure and whose mercurial nature makes him an absolutely irresistible character to watch. Absolute Transmetropolitan 1 tells the story of how Spider comes to return to the City he hates, and soon finds himself and his special brand of The Truth up against political bastardry the likes of which he's never seen. It's everything you could hope for from a fictional story and then some; not treating yourself would be a crime. Buy it. Plus, it's really big and will look impressive on your bookshelf at home. ... show more

  • Incredible writing in an immersive cyberpunk madhouse
I love Spider Jerusalem and the wicked world he's a part of. If you've never read Transmet, I highly recommend picking up this volume. If you're not sure about liking the series, it may be worth picking up a few issues on ComiXology to see if the style is your thing. I also have the second Absolute edition, but not the third. DC, PLEASE PRINT THE THIRD VOLUME AGAIN! I WANT TO GIVE YOU MY MONEY! ... show more

  • Worth every penny! Its like seeing 480p vs 4k
This is the most beautiful Hard Back graphic Novel I've ever seen. It came shipped in a solid cardboard holder, along with the safe packing. And it comes in a hard cardstock cover, instead of a flimsy sleave cover for the book. Its full gloss, nearly the size of an Artist's rendition (which is the scale the artist uses to draw). Its basically 480p vs 4k. The old graphic novels are so bland in comparison. The colors alone are worth it. One of my girlfriends favorite gifts ever. Id pay $100 for this. Its the size of the bible. ... show more

  • Good read
Large, colorful, solid and heavy enough for home defense against filthy assistants or to extract the truth from the unwary if you have misplaced your bowel disruptor. If your wondering what a bowel disruptor is or why the assistants are filthy you should read this comic. This is a wonderfully witty and pleasantly dark story about a journalist living in a dystopian future searching for truth. Its better than I make it sound. ... show more

  • Best Warren Ellis
I finally caved after waiting years for Deluxe Editions (my preferred format) & finally pick this up. It is beautiful & the story is positively timeless, but it's best in that DE price range, so look for it there. (~$50).

  • One sitting
Picked up Absolute Transmet vol. 1 because it was on-sale, and all of my buddies were recommending it, having never read it myself. Got my copy, cracked it open, and all of a sudden I found myself coming-to eight hours later, staring at the back cover, screaming for more comics. Needless to say, Vol. 2 is in the mail. ... show more

  • Perfect
My only complaint is that I don't have a shelf tall enough to fit this beautifully made, hardcover monolith standing up, but that's more of an issue with my furniture than the book itself.
