  • Excellent product.
I use it to fill in cracks and holes in reclaimed lumber. It's very strong, and when prepped/sanded blends in like a natural, sappy defect in the wood.

  • Awesome product if you have an older home
This stuff is amazing - it soaks into a dry rotted board and turns it into a hard resin ‘board’ I can’t rate this high enough with just 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

  • Works well.
This product works well on hardening old wood, but it arrived with a dent in one of the cans and the product had leaked out. This happened to me twice. Needs to be packaged better. It's pretty pricey if you're doing a large project but it does what it's supposed to do.

  • Everything it claims to be
Worked out better than expected. I'd never used this stuff before, or even heard of it. But I needed something to firm up the edges of a particle board chest I'm restoring (Why was it made of particle board? Why would I bother with such a substandard thing? Answer - not even sure myself). The edges had nail and screw holes (from the hinge and God only knows what else), not to mention the fact that the chest is at least 25 years old, and particle board does not age well. Anyway. This product did the job famously. Kudos to the other reviewer who observed that a splash of acetone will thin the mix quite well. This helped a lot, as I needed a "water like" consistency to apply this properly. When initially mixed, this product comes pretty close to that anyhow, but the acetone really clinched it. Working time on the can says about 45 minutes, and I got just about every minute of that, but if it's really warm your experience might come in slightly under that. The particle board soaked up the product like a thirsty guy in a desert, and with the long working time I was able to apply several applications. I'm not certain how deep it went, but it set up rock hard, and I have high confidence that when I install the new hinge screws the edges will hold better now than when it was first built. Very good product, and I suspect I will find other uses for it with other projects. ... show more

  • Rotten Wood? This makes it stronger than new!
I am a General Contractor, retired now after 45 years. There is not much that rots that I have not seen or been asked to repair/replace. This product has saved me and my clients so much time and money it is hard to put a value on it. I used to used polyester resin (Bondo). But in a year it will crack because it does not bond permanently to the wood cells. Abatron Liquid Wood is different. It is a very slow setting epoxy. You can mix it up and pour or brush it onto sections of rotting wood, tops of water decayed beams, delaminating plywood flooring, etc., and it will move into and be absorbed by the wood cells before it begins to cure. When cured, that part which used to be organic rot is now basically a plastic structure. Nearly impervious to water, it cannot rot any longer. Loose fibers do not need to be cleaned before applying as they become a structural part of this epoxy bond as the material is absorbed and hardens. You can probably tell that I am a big fan of this product. The sister product they make, Abatron Woodepox, is a 2 part epoxy material that is similar to lightweight spackle. Mixed in equal parts, you can work this by hand into voids, large and small, rughly shape it to the original wood member size, and walk away for 24 hrs. When you come back, it is perfectl;y bonded to the Liquidwood and the remaining solid wood. It can now be cut, sanded, shaped as necessary and painted. That part of your beam (or whatever) will not rot again. It bonds with the wood, so it moves with the wood... no cracking. No call backs. No problems. I highly recommend this over any other exterior patching or repair compound I have ever tried. It is not inexpensive. But then, neither is your time nor reputation. This is how the job is done right the first time. ... show more

  • wonderful product
I used this in a project of rebuilding the structure of a hot tub that had rotted. we flipped it up on its side and let everything dry out. I treated every bit of wood that had rotted or had been eaten by the ants. I absolutely soaked the wood. when it dries it was amazing hard, like....harder than the wood was when new and entirely waterproof. The sections that had rotted out terribly I rebuilt with an epoxy clay and the end result was fantastic. ... show more

  • Mixed as described but the epoxy doesn't harden and stays sticky. Have to "sand" it off
I'm working with epoxy for many years and do understand how important is mixing it properly. 1st batch of this product dried in two days, longer than expected but it did. Second coat, when I decided to cover the whole window, doesn't dry, and it's 3 days already as I applied it. I did mix it properly, used measuring cups for mixing correct volumes, 1:1, and stirred it for more than 1 minute. I don't know why it doesn't dry but now I'm "sanding" this really sticky stuff off, and I'm pissed. The window is ruined, I spent so much time on it, and now need to spend much more. The window has a complex shape and removing this stuff is a nightmare. Not only this epoxy is really expensive, it's not robust. You may be lucky and it will dry, but when it won't, you will really regret you used it. I'm REALLY unhappy. ... show more

  • Works perfectly!
The siding on my chimney has a bit of wood rot where it meet the roof of the house. I'm a nut about water damage, so I bought this and the epoxy to try to stop it from getting worse/repair the rotted portions. This stuff was perfect. It mixes easily together, goes on like paint, dries quickly, and is definitely waterproof. I got some on my hand and it took a day of hand-washing with soap to get it off enough where I didn't notice. You don't have to worry about putting on too much. What I had left over in the bowl began to dry into one solid block when left on the counter for just a few minutes. Only mix what you need at the time, you cannot save and use it later once the two parts are mixed. Very happy and after the epoxy is complete, will feel much better when it rains again! ... show more
