  • Great little generator
This is an excellent small generator. Ive used it for camping, to charge electronics, run a crock pot, air up mattresses etc. In case of power outage, we also ran 2 full sized refrigerators, our fish tank pump, light and heater, The WIFI router, 55" LED tv and our natural gas tankless water heater (Still needs electricity to run the ignitor and the blower) as well as a few LED indoor lamps at the same time. Unit was broken in under light load when I first received it. Changed oil at 1 hour and again at 11 hours. Adjusted valves, topped it off with stabilized fuel and set aside for emergency use. 3 months later our power was out for nearly 3 days. I ran this generator day and night for nearly 3 days, only shutting it off to refuel (3 times per day, about 4 gallons of fuel burned per day) and 1 time to change the oil when the hour meter hit 50 hours. Unit has run flawlessly and now with nearly 200 hours on it, it runs and operates just as good as it did the day I purchased it. Keep in mind this is not meant to power HUGE loads like air conditioner units or large space heaters, it is mean to run at 1800 watts max continuous with a bit of reserve power for surges (Like when the refrigerator compressor first kicks on). If you use it for its intended purpose, I believe it will prove to be an excellent portable unit. ... show more

  • Faulty engine
Item arrived and box had some visible damaged product seemed intact. Followed the instructions in order to start ir. It ran for maybe 2 minutes the started shaking violently and it shut off i tried to start it again and the recoil line felt stuck/seized. I wasn’t able to start it again.

  • Quiet, clean power...
This fine little inverter generator comes with an excellent Yamaha OHV engine and is all you need in a little portable generator for your RV or camping. Costco has sold basically the same generator--same manufacturer, same engine, lower power rating by 100 watts in both startup and run--for a number of years and it has a solid 4.6 star rating there with almost 1300 ratings. There are differences between this generator and the one sold at Costco which lead me to prefer this model. Most significant is the inclusion of a CO (carbon monoxide) alarm in this model, a difference that could be life-saving. The included CO alarm automatically shuts the generator off, an excellent safety addition. I've owned several generators over the years and I keep a 5000W non-inverter generator in the garage for power-out situations. We also have a whole house generator for a vacation home. So this is more a convenience generator, excellent for its portability and quietness. We'll take it to the remote campground we go to on Lake Michigan to recharge our electronics and the like, but not expect more from it than that. In a pinch it will power most home furnaces (if you can wire it in) or a refrigerator, so it can do power-out if you are desperate, but it's really designed for less demanding situations. Comes with a fuel gauge, digital readout that tells frequencey, hours, etc., low oil shutdown. A top-notch generator in every way. ... show more

  • RELATIVELY QUIET GENERATOR
I took a glance at the other reviews and the one thing that stuck with me was the 5-star reviews for a quiet generator and the 1-star review for the noisy generator. As a mechanic working on engines for a good part of 30 years, I can say that this generator is relatively quiet. At least relatively quieter than a 80cc Yamaha or Kawasaki motorbike. If the noise that the generator produces is a primary deal breaker for you, then go solar or wind power. Any internal combustion engine will produce noise. There will be some generators that will have a small muffler system but most of the manufacturers simply assume that the buyer will tolerate the noise that the generator will produce. Cons for me: Lack of 220 VAC output and no automatic fuel shutoff. I like the idea of the CO sensor but you really should not be running this generator indoor. One, you may get CO poisoning and two, your generator is definitely going to be LOUD. Overall, it is a decent little generator ... show more

  • Powerful little generator!
I read other reviews before getting the A-I power portable generator, and was a little worried of it's performance. After receiving the generator and trying it out, I find it works great for my needs. I do not use it on job sites, or to power a ton of things, but it did power my deep freeze and other household appliances just fine. I feel it runs fairly quiet, and is worth the $849 price. My brother who does use them on job sites checked it out as well and said it is a great generator with a good motor on it. I am thankful to have this as a backup just in case our electricity goes out this winter, or to use when it warms up and we go camping. ... show more
